Saturday, I got base model mud flaps, weather stripping, the spare tire tool, a coil pack, and a intake tube from a guy named Jason (thanks if you are reading this) all for $30. I dropped the spare and it is the original- lots of deep cracks on the sidewall. I aired it up and the valve stem is leaking so it is pretty much useless. Probably won't put on the mud flaps for a while because the 4WD ones look so sweet. The coil pack is for a spare if one goes bad. I will be doing the ISR mod when we do the valve cover gaskets so I have a spare tube if I mess up.

Today, I adjusted the clutch pedal and added a spring to it. It goes into gear much better and the pedal comes all the way up now. I also added a spring to the brake pedal to help it come up faster too.

I scraped most of the paint protection sticker things from where the flares were- now there are just grooves in the paint.

The spare tire is on the roof because I wanted to clean the under-body behind the axle. Probably putting it back under the truck tomorrow. I will be getting a used 235/85/16 tire soon for the spare.

Exhaust Update:

I have painted the tailpipe with Rustoleum high temp flat black- the muffler section will come next. Since I was planning on putting the muffler on later this week, I decided to give it a shot and drill some holes in my original muffler. I drilled 7 holes in the front flat piece of it and two on the bottom. It sounds awesome!!! Not ricey at all. The whistle went away too! It sounds loud with the windows rolled down and with the windows rolled up, I can barely hear it and there is no drone. I may just leave it like this for a while. :flamethrwoer2:

I drilled 2 more holes in the front of the muffler and a quarter- sized hole in the bottom. It's a little better now. I am going to try and make a video tomorrow.

Driveshaft Zerk/ Start of Valve Cover Gaskets

Lots of work this weekend. First was the driveshaft zerk.






Next came the valve cover gaskets. We are cleaning every nut and bolt, so this will likely be a three day job. New spark plugs too. Tonight, we will put the passenger side valve cover back on.

Got the passenger side valve cover back on. Cleaning the driver side now...















My free Toyota badges came! I will paint the "manual" one black and put it where the "automatic" badge was on 1st gen 4Runners. I don't know what I will do with "chuckles" just yet.

Got the valve covers put back together. Just need to put the intake and random stuff back on. My new stereo and speakers came in today! I will be putting those in this week.

Finished up the engine Thursday night and did the stereo this morning.

Each door has a piece or 2 of sound deadening in them. Stereo sounds great!

The engine runs soooooo much better now. It takes about half as long to start now and it idles quieter and smoother.

A few weeks ago I got my dad's used 4th gen front floormats.


The $5 a piece Wal-Mart rears fit good. They look the same as the $10 Advance Auto Parts mats.
