If anyone wants to join us, we are going to Land Between the Lakes this weekend. We'll be offroading at Turkey Bay Saturday morning going into the afternoon. Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning, we will be mountain biking on the N/S trail and/or canal loop. We're also camping at Hillman Ferry Saturday night.
We are going with 2 other guys that know the area pretty well (this is our first time in Turkey Bay).

I'm so excited!!! Unless the deal falls through, I am getting manual hubs, spindles, and CVs for $200 and a 30 mile drive!! :dancin:

So want to check out the wheeling at Land Between the Lakes! Building shiny new trail this weekend though, on the Ozark Trail. Pics, post pics!!
That is insane! Off a 96+, right? Crossed fingers all is good for you! If they need new boots it's less than $50 a side and I've got pics for the manual hub cv rebooting on the ol' build thread if you need them. Insane.....

I hope we have fun! Building trail sounds like fun! We built a mountain bike trail near my house that's almost exactly 8 miles long and that took several years to complete. Good luck!
I hope they're in good shape. I'm most concerned about the UBJs and the wheel bearings.

I'm also probably going to the junkyard today. They got in a 99 this morning and a 97 yesterday. I'm hoping I find some clear headlights!

Ah, right, that makes more sense. I swapped the ubjs from my spindle to the manual hub spindle because they looked at me funny (and mine were newer). The bearings...yeah, total sense. That's a chunk o' change though they all get replaced some time, right?
Upper ball joints 82 ft lbs. Brake caliper bolts 90 ft lbs. 4 Lower ball joint bolts 59 ft lb and loctite, ball joint bolt 105 ft lb
Will we be seeing pics like these on here??? Oh the suspense!

I hope so!
My UBJs are probably original. Unless the taco ones have been replaced, it's probably a good idea to get some new ones while the spindle is not attached to anything. I'll also ask him about the speed sensor. :guitar2:

Last Friday I got a '99 driver's side headlight, rear floormats, a trim piece, and a replacement mudflap for $26! Gotta love the cheap junkyard! lol
Our trip to LBL was pretty fun, but we got up there late. Turkey bay was very dusty and we didn't want to mess up our paint on the "real" trails. We probably won't go again because of those issues and it's $20 per truck. However, we are probably going with a group from Expedition Portal to explore old forest roads in October. From what I guy we met said, the forest roads are just as good as Turkey Bay and it's free! Habanero, I'll get the date and let you know!

(still in shock that it's not only a 3rd gen in a yard, but that it's still got an engine in there)
TNCaveman- I'll bet you know how lucky you are! All my 12 year old son wants to do these days is butt heads. Hoping for a day when we can share some fun too. And maybe some cookies. Lots of cookies. Now I want cookies.

We did have a good time. Luckily gas is cheap right now though. But, he's off to college and I'm here in estrogen land at home

PS - might be doing a group ride at LBL in October with some guys that are on the Expedition Portal. We meet a MTBer and he invited us. We'll be on forest service roads. Hopefully it will rain beforehand to cut the dust.
