cigarette lighter socket dead!?!?!?

any idea why?

IMO, its a bad location because on more than 1 occasion coins ended up in the socket. now its dead (no coin in there). i checked the fuse box in the engine bay, didn't see anything pertaining to the cigarette lighter socket. is there 1 under the dash?

help.

Samething happend to my 2005. I dunno how cause I just bought it Cirtified pre woned. But it doesnt work.

Simple question: Are you checking this with the IGN ON? The sockets are only live when the key is turned to ON (unless you do a mod to keep them always on.)
I can't remember for sure but the fuse may be in the inner fuse box, behind the little door at the driver's left knee panel.

yeap truck is up & running but nothing from cig socket. just died recently. will try to look for the inner fuse box.

its in the fuse box located below the steering wheel to the left in the kickpanel ( i think that's what its called)

the cig fuse is the lower right one....taking off the cover reveals a sticker on the opposite side telling you which fuse is which....hope this helps

lol I should have listened to you (well I didn't remember cause the wife drives it). I ended up looking for it under the steering column twice, then it finally clicked to pop open the panel. anyhow the POWER OUTLET fuse popped, NOT the CIG fuse. It doesn't shock me though as I have found dimes/pennies in the socket many times (bad location). now its just a matter of finding this 15amp mini blade fuse.
