got a ticket for not having "care in turn". BS. the cop might have followed me too closely when i decided to make a sudden turn in town center to a bank. i wasnt unfamiliar with the place. she nailed me $70. oddly, she folded the ticket while handing it to me and asked "what model year 4Runner this is" ? she must be drooling ;-)

I was only driving at about 15 miles per hr
while making the turn.

You could have said, "Oh, it's a (year). Would you like to drive it around the block?"

She just had to stop and ask you and the ticket was just a legal excuse...she wants your bod. She wants your hot bod. She wanted you to show her how the back seat folds down for two people.....she wants to chekc out your drive shaft.....so take it to trial so she has to show up again....that way you can ask her out for coffee win or lose.....

Did she add her phone number and time she gets off her shfit when she handed you a "folded" ticket?

why bother? it's a non-moving violation. if you lose you pay more and wasted your time and more likely than not there probably aren't any offenses that have a lower fine (maybe seat belt). BUT, if it is a moving violation, contest that sh*t.

how is it a "non moving" if he was making a turn? also, it is worth keeping points off your record. once you get a couple points, the judges are not as likely to drop small charges against you thus causing you to have to PAY...

Good one ;-) hadnt thought of that. Not my type though, but heck... Definitely requesting a hearing. My driving record is impeccable.

I do think it *is* a moving violation. Not sure in MA, what the rule is in classifying the type of violations and whether insurance points/cost will be increased if the ticket is uncontested.

sometimes I think driving a truck as tough and classy as ours gets us more un-necessary attention on the road :(

It would be worth it to take it to court. Not sure how it is there but here in PA we pay $50 for a trial date. If you are found guilty then that $50 is subtracted from the original amount you had to pay. A lot of times if you are found guilty and there were points involved you can bargain with them to remove the points and only pay the fine (they just want your money anyway). If you are found not guilty you get refunded the $50 that you paid for the trial. Either way it's almost always better to take a traffic violation (when points are involved) to court if you have a clean record.
 
in MA, i dont believe you have to pay $ to request a hearing. it's the hassle and embarrassment that prevent most from returning to court house for minor violations. IMHO.

I think the outcome of hearing is usually "responsible" or not. Guilty might be too strong a term ;-)

wow, some states charge you to go to court? what a pile of bs... what happened to innocent until proven guilty?

i said non-moving in the fact that you can get a ticket for failing to signal, which is moving, yet has no points, only a fine (at least in NJ). but i'd agree, if it's gonna give you points, without a doubt, fight it. i'm assuming w/ the low fine it may not involve any points though. he could always call the court and find out.

Heh, get to know the updates on the Patriot Act. Then you'll see how "free" we really are :eek:. Anyway, all states have different laws and guidelines. In PA, if you want to fight a ticket you gotta pay the $50 for the DJ's time (basically). Like I said though, win or lose the money goes where it should (win=back in your pocket / lose= towards your fine).

Like 00void said, with that low of a fine I doubt there is any points involved anyway. But anytime there IS points, fight away ;):.
