Clank when reversing-Suggestions?

Hello All. Tried searching and couldn't find something that matched what I am experiencing.

Mid summer I had a toytec ultimate with LR UCA's installed on my SR5. Installed the dif drop and the sway bar relocation brackets.

Starting in the last month I hear a sporadic clank when reversing out of my garage and sporadically other times. Seems to be more common if it has been parked for some time.

I have checked the torque on all the suspension components, greased the zerk fittings and it is still present. It seems to occur as I start to brake gently backing down my driveway.

Checking the wheels I see some scratch marks on the flat surfaces surrounding the lugs but no damage to the lugs. Wheels are torqued to spec. Brake pads seem to be solid. I know UCA's can make noise but they are silent under suspension flex.

Has anyone experienced anything similar and if so what was the solution?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated as I plan on tearing it down again this weekend to try and fix it. I am even considering removing the sway bar for a bit to see if that is it.

I will be taking it to discount as that is where I got the wheels and tires to verify the wheels are fitting properly.

I have the same thing brotha. I have looked through everything as well and cannot for the life of me find the root of the noise.

I have it also with stock setup. I only get it in the morning pulling out of the garage maybe twice a week. Never noticed it any other time

What it could be, and is fairly common, is the brake pads moving fore and aft in the calipers. There is clearance between the ends of the backing plate of the pads, and the caliper, so that the pads won't bind in the caliper.

As we drive along applying the brakes, the pads will be at the forward position in the calipers. As we back-up out of a parking spot, driveway, etc. and then apply the brakes while reversing, the pads will move slightly aft in the caliper until the backing plate of the pad makes contact with the caliper. Often making a slight clanking sound.

I have considered this based on other research. Sometimes I have heard it backing up and turning the wheel and I don't think I was touching the brakes but I could be wrong.

Is it something that can be fixed or is it just a known issue that has only surfaced as the pads have worn down a bit. I do have 25k on it now.

There is a TSB open on these at your local dealer. They say its something with the driveshaft IIRC. theres a bunch of posts on here about this exact thing if u do a search. getting mine done thursday before im out of powertrain coverage

I believe that TSB addresses a whole different issue. This is usually a one time tiny clank that occurs during the first few suspension movements after sitting a few hours.
