I was trying out plastidip on my 2014 LE wheels yesterday.
I wanted to try a 2 sheen finish, so I taped off the gloss black that I wanted to keep, but plasti dipped the alloy color. However, when I removed the tape, I couldn't get a clean edge. Is there a way to get a clean edge?
Unlike normal paint, you need to peel the tape off when the dip is wet. The only time you wait for it to dry is when there is already an edge (e.g. gap between body panels or a drastic change in surface - like a squishy weather strip to a door panel). In those instances the dip will cut itself, typically where you want it.
It's hard to tell from your image, but if the edges are still lifted up, dab a bit of paint thinner on there to liquefy the dip and have it lay flat. Uplifted edges will spread and get worse over time.
