Climate control layout opinion

One thing to consider about deciding between an '04 or '05 is the fact that the '04 V6 models only have the 4-speed transmission and the '04 V8 models only have 235 HP versus the '05 V8 which has 270 HP. Besides a few differences in exterior trim and colors, the '04 and '05 is going to be the same in every other regard. I had an '04 V6, now I have an '05 V8, and I never thought the climate control layout was hard to use. I like it much more than any other vehicle I've owned.

The mirror can be added real easy especially if you get one without side airbags. I got mine for $120 off a toyota dealer site i believe (cant remember where) and it took me like 15 min to install. The controls took me a while to figure out, but now that I know what is what and where they are easier than many other cars climate controls, you can select any fan speed with one button, and everything is basically one button push and the buttons are not hidden, I think you will get to like it but it may take a few weeks to get used to. Good luck, Im sure whatever year/model you get you will love it.

I also find the HVAC controls to be both annoying and as ugly as dirt. It's my one major beef with the dash layout. Lose the starfish, Toyota.

I do agree it is not the most elegant design, They made nice electronic climate controls look similar to the old knobs and dials that were around (still around on cheaper cars), before electronic climate control. Iwould have liked something more elegant, but once i got used to this, i think it is easier to do without looking than many other cars.

After you get used to the HVAC controls (which takes a little time) you will really like them, especially if they are the dual zone. You will find that they really don't need to be adjusted that much. Once you find the comfortable temp setting, you pretty much don't touch it again. Sometimes you may have to toggle the outside air.

There weren't that many differences between 04 and 05 miles besides the ones Derek listed. A few cosmetic changes to SR5 and Limited models and a Auto Limited Slip Differential on 2WD models.

The autodimming mirror is easily added.

It didn't take me that much time to master the HVAC controls. They're actually pretty much the same as any other car I've driven with the exception that nstead of turning a knob, you're pushing a button.

With the auto climate control, you just "set it and forget it".
I thought the controls were really strange at first, too. But I find I hardly ever touch them, so it really doesn't matter.

My number one concern is the HVAC controls and how long did it take to get used to them or do you have to look at it each time and think about it? Is this one of those things that after a few weeks you really like the layout and wonder why other vehicles don

Don't worry about the HVAC controls. The only two buttons you need to now is auto and off! As for mirror, I added it to my 2003 Sport without any problem.
