Climate control lights

Is it fairly easy to change the bulbs in a 05 4runner in the climate control buttons and the LCD screen back light. If so how much do the bulbs run and can I get them from a auto parts store or is it strictly a dealer part.

Theyre about $3.50 each at the dealer. I dont think you can find them at an autoparts place. To replace them will take you 10 minutes, really..its pretty easy. I replaced the one behind the fan speed switch on saturday. Took me 5 min.

All you have to do is:

1) open the cubby beneath the HVAC cluster all the way and pull it up and out.
2) a 10mm bolt/screw is directly under the cluster. You use a phillips head or a 10mm socket to get that thing out.
3.) firmly pull out the cluster (its in pretty good, but if you pull outwards, itll. E fine)
4) use a flathead minitool screwdriver to get the old bulb out and put the new one in!

I did a write up with pictures. Just do a search. I listed the bulb part numbers and which one you need where as well.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info. i really appreciate it. i guess trdcal is to busy to help me out. sorry to bother u trdcal.

i wasnt going to post... but this quote irritates me...

too busy to help you out? maybe because this topic is covered with a new thread once a week. a simple search would have given you a list of answers. i dont mean to sound stern, but when you disrepect someone for something i feel is YOUR mistake.... thats just wrong.

Just to clarify so we're all on the same page, I'm too busy to help you out but your too busy to type 4 words into the google and see what pops up. Thats ok, I did it for you.

Holy **** look at that, theres even a video!

As Trevloc said, this topic gets covered a ridiculous amount of times and always in a new thread. I'm not trying to be an ******* but just a bit of tough lovin so you learn how to use the forum to its full advantages.

So true...at least we can say we tried.

Sorry. Every time I try to google I get people say one thing and someone else who says the total opposite. I'm not the best mechanic I just thought this it what a forum is for. To ask questions. Sorry if I'm mistaken. Plus not all my posts r easy questions to to google like when i asked about a diff drop for a 3 inch lift. I'm just trying to get feedback. Thank you

Check out the DIY LED interior swap thread.... I'm kind of an expert on this sort of sh*t. It's the first thing that pops up when I google it....

I'm PM'd you anyway out of the kindness of my heart.

Yes, but I have posted stuff before and and did a search for my posts and nothing came up except for one old one and it acted like I didn't have any other ones, but I have done several others. Sorry to ask stupid questions and yes the 4runner is my wife's and I love working on it when it's something I can do. I'm not a mechanic and very far from it and this is the first forum I joined and just figured I would ask people who know the stuff.

Does anyone know if the VSC Switch (bottom left of the steering wheel) lights up when the lights are turned on? I am in the process of switching burned out bulbs for the climate control, rear window switch, DAC switch, cupholder bulb, etc, and I am not sure about the VSC switch (if it has a bulb).

Thanks

Spiro
