Nice rig and amazing setup Clownmeat!!! Let's just be clear; I official hate you for the ideas you've not only put into my head but as I've gone through your thread you've made me realize they aren't all that crazy and can actually be done. Props to you sir! :hatsoff: You've captured my amazement. Now if you can integrate some of those sweet new digital gauges Lexus dreamed up for the LFA... :jaw drop:

Help a noob to turbos out. I have a debate with my brother all the time supercharger vs turbo. I'm a SC fan (basically out of familiarity and he's a turbo fan (owns a twin turbo BMW). I know the debate isn't new but I never could get past the ruggedness aspect of using it offroad. How much of the system can actual be submerged? If the intake and the turbo itself stay dry is everything okay or is there more to it than that?

Just keep the air intake up high and you can dunk the hole setup including the turbo (wouldn't recommend it if it was glowing red hot though). It's been through rivers and just last weekend packed in snow, slush and ice, reminds me I still need to make a snorkel.

So using a freeware program called Eagle you can plan out the entire circuit then place all the components on a virtual board and it will auto-route everything for you. So then that file can just be emailed to the guy with the CNC machine to be cut out, then I have my own pretty PCB.

So it wont look like this.

Turbocharger
Exhaust pipe
Exhaust hanger
T3 in and out flanges with gaskets
Scavenge pump
Oil feed and return lines
Oil feed and drain flanges and gaskets
Turbo timer
Lots of random fittings
Charge pipes, couplers and clamps
BOV
Air filter
Wastegate, unless you get a internally gated turbo

Hope that helps. I just skimmed through my build thread, I don't want to get into a super detailed list with brands, sources, prices and all that crap. If you get stuck on something or have any questions just send me a message I will try to help.

So I was thinking I might use the A/T P warning light (because I don't need it) for my torque converter lockup indicator since it's already there and in your face. Being manually controlled it probably wouldn't be on very much anyway with the driving I do.

At first I thought this thread would be a bunch of :sleepy: but then the turbo worked and I said :wow: but now with the circuitry and the paddles and programming and fabrication...I'm more like :girl:!! Awesome Clownmeat! Keep up the good work!
 
Glad you enjoyed it. Progress has been a little slow through the holiday season, but more to come in the next couple weeks. :beer:
 
Someone asked awhile ago about fuel mileage after being turbocharged. Finally figured it's getting around 17mpg, but with big tires and driving like an ******* thats not to bad.
 
Glad my uncle took the job of building the brains of the paddle shift project because this goes beyond my soldering skills, it's so cute. This is the high side mosfet driver, the chip that will actually supply 12V+ to the shift solenoids.

With your tires, lift, and the turbo thats seems ridiculously good. Especially if thats your average. Thats about what Im averaging with stock tires, a 1.5in lift, and driving like a grama. Would you ever consider doing a detailed write up on how you fabricated your turbo system? I know your thread has some general stuff about it, but I bet a ton of guys on the forum would be interested in doing this at some point, considering the power to cost ratio is way better than sc
 
So as you can see here with a rear mount turbo I am seeing intake air temps at 100 degrees normal driving and about 135 degrees with a pull after pull workout. I think it's pretty awesome compared to the 200+ degrees the supercharged ones see. One more reason the stock fuel system can keep up without pinging also.

You were thinking of mounting some tubing on the rear awhile ago.
