CO bound in june

So I’m going to heading out to boulder June 6-14th for Ironman 70.3 my buddie and I are planning to camp in rock mountain national forest and basically check out areas north of I-70. We plan on doing some hikes but since this will be my first trip out there with my 4runner I wouldn’t mind doing some “light” wheeling.

Looking for suggestion on trails and places to check out that’s off the beaten track so to speak. I usually make it out west once in the winter and summer each year but have either been snowboarding or checking out areas south of I-70 and I took my BMW coupe which was lowered so dirt roads got a little sketch sometimes, suggestions?

Hey slides,
This link TrailDamage.com - Map of Colorado Trailheads

I have only tried a few trails up around RMNP. Those around Grand Lake that connect with Stillwater Pass were pretty good.

Further south around Central City, Idaho Springs, and Empire are more. But those are a little closer to I-70 as opposed to up around RMNP.

The problem is that above 8000 - 9000 feet elevation, there will still be snow drifts, likely through June. We've had a lot of late snow in the higher elevations this May.

I wouldnt suggest light wheeling unless your truck is modified and you have someone following you.

Shit's too unforgiving here.
