Cobra 18 WX ST II mounting question

I have my dash apart and I'm trying to mount my Cobra 18 WX ST II underneath my aftermarket single din receiver. For the people who have this installed, how did you mount this to the stock radio mount? Did you drill new holes into the stock mount? Did you use the black radio mount for that came with the radio for anything? The stock radio mount holes don't line up with the single big hole (on each side) of the CB. I can make it line up but it forces the radio to sit back 1-2" from the receiver. Any input is greatly appreciated.

With my 99 I didn't even worry about screwing the Cb to it because once it is in there it was so tight I couldn't get it to budge. How much room do you have behind the cb

Found a way that lined up good enough to at least attach it to the holder not perfectly, but it doesn't move. I don't believe I used the purposed holes in the holder, but I didn't drill either. Seems like there were slots I was able to use- it's been awhile.
Dunno if you've got one, but an L connector for the coax makes this radio fit without sticking out.

Thanks for the input fellas. I got it in today without mounting it to the bracket at all. It's so tight there it doesn't have any room to move.
