Coilover Questions

I email Doug at toytec and he said any Coilover needing the sway-bar relocation brackets will need the radiator support lowering kit.

Does this sound right? Toytec is the only one I've ever read or heard or doing this???

While I am sure Doug knows his stuff, I have never heard of any thing relating to the radiator, radiator support, or anything like that needing modification when changing out to an aftermarket coil over. Just the sway bar relocation kit on non-KDSS trucks.

That is correct.
Here's a really ,really good DIY install thread of Icon suspension on a 2010 FJ,whose suspension is identical to ours. http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/foru...icon-ivd-stage-2-inst-w-pics.html#post1737163 You can see the spacers/washers in pics 4-6 of his post #2. They are no big deal really . If you lower the sway bar ,then it will rub on the drivers side support without those 1/4" thick spacers/washers.

For those with SR5,Limiteds and TE's without KDSS that lowered the sway bar with sway bar relocation spacers for a lift and say it doesn't rub........Did you do the lift yourself and know for sure there are no spacers? It's hard to tell they are there unless you know what to look for. And lets see pics of the drivers side support to sway bar clearance if no spacers.

Here is a pic of mine and shows where it will rub!

I decided on radflo 2.0's, but what spring rate should I get #600 or #650?

Stock truck, sliders and possibly a bud built hidden winch later on. Mostly street, snowy roads, and fire roads. No really tough stuff...the twin babies mod kinda killed that for a while.

650LB - It will help with body roll and nose dive and help with the weight you add in the future without being "over sprung".

My opinion.

650 is what radflo calls "standard", but they said they can do 600 too.

I just didn't want it to be to rough, I'm doing this for better ride quality, not really for a huge rough lift.

I guess 650's could be ok, that's about what most coil over manufactures use as standard.

My 884s are 590# springs. No issue with nose dive or with weight so far. I do not have any front weight added aside from a hitch though. My hitch weighs more than the skids will though. Ride is fantastic.

Arn't Icons, Kings, etc all #650 springs??? The Fox's I had were 650 and I ran those on a bone stock truck for months, no issues, not too stiff at all. I would rather be a little on the stiff side than the soft side....Uhhh.. ya. :hatsoff:

Obligatory "that's what she said"
