Thanks for this as well. I've had this happen to me as well a couple of times. Just thought it was a quark of driving a 17 year old buggy when it's damn cold outside.

I love this forum!!! Ive had this problem for a couple years... and if always fing cold up here in vt!! I was told its possibly water in the brake fluid... of course my brakes have been flushed since. just came upon this thread, so psyched!!! Parts on order!!
Maybe this should be in the maintenance section if many people are having this issue??

Very timely that I was this. We've been in the single digits lately and my 97 has been exhibiting this behavior. That and the rear brakes trying to lock when I come to a full stop. Things clear up after it warms up a bit.
Thanks for those part numbers. I need to get with the usual folks and get them ordered. I have a lot of things to do on the old girl by springtime. LOL

This should be included in a maintenance sticky somewhere. Seems like a very common/dangerous problem. I just ordered my parts the other day. Its only done it to me a couple times but the first time I was within an inch of backing into my neighbors bmw... thank god for emergency brakes.
