color confusion

i am getting ready to finally pull the trigger to replace my totaled 04' with an 06'. My confusion is this. After looking on cars.com or autotrader.com i am confused about the difference between Galactic Gray and Shadow Mica. Different ads show different color characteristics. From the Toyota website I see that Shadow Mica is darker but has a bit more brown in it?

Is Shadow Mica the graphite gray color I see around? I like that color but do not like the Blueish Gray color I see around as much. Is that Blueish color Galactic?

Am I an idiot?

Colors are kind of an arbitrary thing. I'm not sure what you would describe as "graphite grey" because graphite tends to have a blue hue in the streak test (pencil lead is actually graphite) but otherwise, I believe you are correct. Galactic Grey has the very grey color with a slight blue hue to it. Shadow Mica, to my eyes, is a very dark metallic brown.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, the 06 model did not have both color options. Just Shadow Mica.

2006 indeed had both colors.

Falls has a 2006 Galactic Grey.

And Uneek was considering a 2006 Shadow Mica...but ended up w/ Titanium Metallic.

That is definitely not Galactic Grey.

My 4R is GG and it's a very dark grey with a little metallic, but not as dark as the Shadow. There is no blue hue to it at all, Pacific Blue Metallic (not avail in 09) is the blue/grey color you see which I'm not very fond of. Then there is also Stratosphere Mica (not avail any more) which is a real sharp deep blue that almost looks black sometimes, IMHO. I'm not sure if the new Nautical Blue Metallic is same/close to the Stratosphere. But I digress.

That's definately a Shadow Mica!!

I see that you had a Limited before...get the Limited.

Exclusively for the body color everything, the 18" rims & the Limited gauges.

Go on Ebay & do some comparison.

SR5, Sport & Urban have the crappy gauges.

Limited has the gorgeous gauges.

Oh ok I looked closer and saw more but I think I like the Sport Gauge better.
