Anyone in the Lakewood area? Career opportunity has presented itself to me in Lakewood.... I see it is close to Denver, Steamboat and Colorado Springs.... decent area? Any places to avoid (housing/schools):tea:

There are at least half a dozen active 5th gen members in the area. Littleton is right next to Lakewood, all are in the Denver metro area. Easy access to the mtns from that part of town, which you will need given how bad traffic has gotten with so many people moving here. If you don't mind snow, no humidity, great microbrews, legal weed, amazing mtns, and modified 4runners on every corner you will enjoy it here. My only complaint would be the influx of people is outpacing infrastructure improvement, but then, I'm a transplant to (16years ago).
To your question, I'm not sure I'd say there are many bad places on the south side of town, not very diverse and houses are packed together but it's a pretty safe area.

thanks.... I am no stranger to insane traffic so I can deal with that.... everything minus the weed sounds great. Not against it, just can't smoke it in my line of work.... thanks for the feedback, sounds like you feel the way we do about the influx of northerners to Florida . I REALLY hate the Yankees now! lol

Golden is becoming a tough nut to crack with housing prices and little new construction, and it's starting to feel a bit like CA around here what with traffic and the influx of people. Been here 18 years, but couldn't move here now with the prices.
Whatever he does, he should live near where he works...

This, we moved to the Twin Cities almost 2 years ago from a small Midwest town. I don't think we will be here long term , hence not buying a house, and while traffic is likely no better or worse then Denver I don't know how people drive on 30+min commute each way to work. Many co-workers do, even up to an 1hr+ but having <10min can not be over stated and never having to get on the freeways. Granted there are trade offs, we live in a tiny apartment and its horrendously expensive for what it is but cheaper then local housing costs which have skyrocketed to pre2008 levels and comparable to farther out (read longer commute) housing costs.

I'm sitting in Golden right now at work and it is pretty awesome. Unfortunately, like others have said, the real estate here is insane. I would recommend going north toward Broomfield or south toward Littleton to get a little more bang for your buck. Both are relatively easy commutes to the Lakewood/Golden area.
Coming from the north and seeing all the trucks at Slee makes the commute a little more enjoyable too.
