Bill Fay, group vice president and general manager at Toyota, just confirmed at NY Auto Show that 2014 4Runner will see "exciting changes."

Of course there is no word what the changes are, so speculate away.
Will probably debut at LA Auto Show in November.
At least we know now, for sure, a refresh is in the cards.

Add a manual transmission and not only will it reappear on my shopping list... It will rocket to the top and unseat Xterra for my 2014 DD replacement.

Good to know but I wouldn't get too excited.... more fancy electronics and a basic interior re-fresh is my guess. I don't see the likely hood of a new engine or body style. Couple more years before that if history serves me correctly.

Needless to say, thanks for the post!

The new Highlander was just revealed here too, and the 3.5L V6 is getting a six-speed transmission. Maybe 4R will get same. No LED tails on the Highlander.

Let me be the first to say it:

Diesel? nope
V8? nope
Manual Transmission? nope

As Jesse1983 the bat stalker said, probably a front end refresh and LED taillights with some minor interior cosmetic changes. My opinion is based on observing mid and full cycle redesigns for the last 34 years on most makes and models of Honda, Toyota, Dodge, GM, Ford and Nissan.

My Guess
LED Taillights
Maybe those fancy fairy LED running light that everyother vehicle has now, but in Orange.

Predictions so far can in no way be considered close to 'exciting' even by the most demented PR guy.

BTW, any link to the news?

I foresee Toyota picking up Antman's idea and putting cup holders in the rear bumper. :)

Quite honestly they should e-mail him about several of his mods, the LED for the homelink, the cupholders, The flashlight holder and many more. Maybe they can pay him to feed his addiction for fishing and pocket knives...Oh and his photgraph skills....

Pic of the new Highlander.....oops sorry about size, not time to crop, should be working not feeding this beast!

great news! No doubt it might get electronic do-dads, LED tail lights, different colors, nothing major (i assume). As for Bill Fays statement, "...exciting changes", I just hope it doesn't get the ugly treatment the Highlander just got. Then again, could be worse, anyone see the new cherokee coming out? YUK!!!!!!!

Cool!

Looking forward to seeing the refresh.

Other than the usual minor body/lights/interior changes that come with mid-cycle refreshes I wouldn't be all that suprised to see if they update the auto to a 6 speed AT.

Direct injection V6/Diesel would be more suprising but nice to see imo.

If they offer a white TE I would really have to hold myself back lol...
