Considering Halo Lights

So I have been considering pickup up some Halo Lights for my 06 4 Runner, but I would like to see what are other peoples experience with these lights.

How is the visibility at night while driving?

What is the quality of the housing?

Anyone throw HID's in there?

RE HALO lights

I know that Xenon Depot has a package deal, performance Halo headlights and HID kit. I would jump all over that because of how easy that would make the transition to HID, but I'm unsure if I like the Halo look in my 4runner. My wife has a Bimmer with the halo's, do I really want them in my Japanese SUV? So yeah I'm still on the fence with that.

So yeah, Xenon Depot, halo + HID package.

The halo projector headlights will only fit the 03-05 4Runner's, if you've got an 06 your out of luck, anyways that'd be a major downgrade as far as light output goes.

thats right, look at the bottom of the halo pictured, then look at your 06 light, see the difference? i havent seen any for the 06+, but you can always just have the stock ones blacked out.

These guys do indeed have their facts wrong as those halo projectors are meant to replace the 03-05 model year lights. 06-09's have the factory projector housings. So even if you switch those out for the halo's, that in itself will be a major downgrade in lighting output from what you already have.

They are working allright for me so far....I really dont drive at night very much. I 'll see how they perform now that the weather is changing . But Some advice is if you drive a lot at night...dont' get them ,unless if you are going to upgrade to some HIDs or if you have and extra auxiliary driving lights on the front ( I am considering getting some aux lights myself coz the winter gets really nasty here and the sun goes down earlier also)...The Halos are definitely way dimmer than stock. I like the looks, thats the main reason why I bought them....but I kept my stock ones just in case.

Just get a 4300K HID kit from Xenon Depot and call it a day. Thats what I did, twice.

please dont buy those rice garbage lights. And just stop with the Halo thing. Its not a BMW, its a toyota. Throw some 4300k (OEM look) HID's and call it a day. Keep it clean and simple, not disgusting and ricey

I got the 4300K Xtreme HID kit in H11 for both of my 4R's, and that is what Id recommend. If you do a search for Xenon Depot you can get more info and reviews. Money well spent IMO, myself having been spoiled by factory HID's.

I haven't seen the halo for the 2006+ style headlights, but I'm not fond of the look with the ones for the 2003-05. The high and low beams of those look too small compared to stock--it doesn't fill out the entire headlight housing well. I'm referring to the aftermarket one with the LEDs above the headlight.

With HIDs in the stock housing they are bright. Keep in mind HIDs put out 3x's the output of Halogens. The beam pattern is decent if you mod the squirrel finder. Here's a write up of the modding the squirrel finder by member lawwailok.

I've had a plug and play Xenon Depot kit in mind and have no ill effects in the stock housings. I can't comment on the aftermarket housings.

For the 2006+ low beams, you'll want an H11 kit from Xenon Depot. The fogs are 9006 (which are the same as the 2003-05 low beams, if you were to use a 2003-05 headlight). In the past, I've seen some aftermarket housings change the bulb style for other cars, not sure if that's the case with the 4Runner's aftermarket headlight.

To summarize,
2003-05 low beams: 9006
2006-09 low beams: H11
2003-09 fogs: 9006
