Convince me to keep stock parts...

I put Icon lift parts in about a month ago.

Sitting in my garage from my 2011 Trail with about 19,000 miles:

1) stock front coil-overs
2) stock upper control arms
3) stock rear shocks
4) stock springs

Everything is working as it should with the new suspension and I'm happy with the new parts.

Convince me to:

A) Keep stock parts, (might want them in the future for some unknown reason)

B) Sell them, (there is a market for them with older 4runners / FJs, which brings up the question, what are they worth?)

C) Throw them away, (eww they look dirty, who'd want those!)

I choose B. I wouldn't care how much I got for them. I'd be happy with $100. You're not going to need them anymore. But, if you do sell them, let us know what you get for them.

Spray them down with "simple green", let sit 30 min re-spray, then power wash and sell. I think you can get $200 for everything.

I'd say keep the front coilovers and rear shocks and try to sell the rear coils and UCAs. I decided to keep my stock parts just in case I need to send out my Icon coilovers for service or repair. Just my 2 cents.

Do you think the stock rear shocks would mount up with the Sway away springs?

I would think that the additional travel of the Icon rear shocks is meant to allow for full rear axle articulation. If you had to use the stock rear shocks while you have your Icon's serviced, I would just avoid taking the 4Runner offroad.

I keep all my stock parts for a few reasons. I can return my vehicle to stock before selling. a stock vehicle is typically easier to sell than a modded up one. Assuming I don't get another Toyota, or if my parts don't transfer over to a new vehicle, I can sell the aftermarket parts for a nice return and apply that money to new vehicle mods. small price to pay for holding on to a few stock parts for a few years.

This. Even though you think your vehicle is the coolest and you have mad mod skills nobody else usually wants what you did. Stock sells better and gets higher trade ins.

^ I too keep such parts. They don't take up much room....and you just never know.....
