I understand your point, but some people don't even know what the different numbers on a tire represent.
I like the visual differences it shows, very simple to understand how changing numbers changes height etc. I also liked the quick reference to how it affects your speedometer.

Your son sounds very intelligent.

Definitely helps to have a visual where you can see multiple sizes side by side. I've been using this calculator, I reference it all the time.

x2 this one lets you put in a lot of different options to view them side by side.
