I have a question on the front spacers. I did spacer lifts on two trucks because the front suspension was very close to the bump stops and on larger dips, they would bottom out. After the spacer lift, it took a much larger bump to make the bump stops hit.
Will a 1" spacer lift give my suspension a tiny bit more travel before hitting the bump stop like on my trucks?

To lift the front of your 4Runner 1", the space is 1/2" thick. You will gain some distance between the bump stop and lower control arm however if you're constantly bottoming out you're either driving way too hard or you have other suspension issues.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't offroad, but I generally don't drive very hard. The city streets here are nuts so they can sneak up on you. I generally look at the bump stops while underneath doing oil changes on my lift and inspect everything. The bump stops have a little clean spot on them where they contact the lower arm every now and then. When I leveled my trucks, I went from a fat cleaner contact spot to very little contact spot. I don't need hardcore articulation, but would appreciate having a hair more available travel for potholes and such.

Just ordered a 1” kit this morning. I’m trying to understand how a 1/2” spacer creates 1” of lift.

Anyone care to mansplain this to me?

Upper and lower control arm geometry change together creates a 2:1 ratio when a spacer is placed on top of the shock. Internal spacers do not work the same way. For anyone interested in a kit, feel free to contact me any time. 631-202-8245

Resurrecting an old thread rather than starting a new one.. I've read through this one several times and my question is what has been the beefiest tire guys have gotten away with on a TRD rim running just the 1" spacer up front? 275? how much rubbing with a 285?
