I ordered the Cornfed 3" lift kit from Jason at Burtman Industries the week before Christmas. It arrived less than a week later. I had a couple of quick questions. Both Jason and David at Cornfed were very quick to respond. Great service! Thanks guys!
I did the install the day after Christmas. It took me and a couple friends 4 hours from the first turn of the wrench to complete. Actually it took 6+ hours total, but 2+ were spent nursing a hangover, reading instructions and strategizing. I and one other could get it done in less than 3 hours now that I know what I am doing.
I removed the brake calipers to allow the lower control arm to drop down and aid in removing the coilover. This made life very easy. It was not mentioned in the instructions so I have just sent a quick query to David to see if there is another way. Other than that I just followed the enclosed instructions. Pretty easy. I was so happy with the result when we finished I treated everyone to food and drinks :cheers:
I found a frame and axle shop to do the alignment yesterday. Firestone refused to do it because of the lift.
I still have the stock Dunlops on the Runner since it only has 1600 miles on it. I am tempted to get some Revos but will probably wait until the Dunlops wear out and I will replace the rims and tires and try to widen the stance a bit.
Anyway, I really like the look.
The stock height was just too low. Now it looks more normal to me, even with the stock rubber. I can't wait to get off road this spring and see how the Runner performs. I have done Redcone Pass in my CJ, Comanche, and on motorcycles, so I have to take the Runner over it this summer and break it in. It is not that technical but does get the palms a bit sweaty on the downhill.
