Anyone else got that problem or observed it? On my T4R Limited V8 2005 the rear door has badly corroded from INSIDE, i.e. water must have entered the hatch door from the window. I had to replace the window lifting mechanism already once because the corrosion damaged the 'trails' where the window is lifted up & down. Got it fixed, but will have to replace it with a new rear door withing the next 2 years. See the pics

That's a lot of bondo! Yeah that's just gunna bubble right back through in a few years. It helps to make sure the seal at bottom of the window is good, my 07 cracked and disintegrated. Also keep the "drains" on the botton of the hatch clear. Once gunk builds up inside the door, it's a rust paradise. Probably get a new hatch and oil the inside at least once a year.

You can also blame the sound deadening. It starts to come apart so moisture gets trapped between the sheet metal and deadening. I scraped off most of the crap, went over the area with scotchbrite and grease/wax remover then primer...didn't feel the need for a color coat since it's not visible.

I have little rust blisters under the paint on my ‘07’s tailgate. Checked the inside and it looks like new - no sign of rust or moisture. Doesn’t really add up.

i think it came from the 3rd mount stop light, looks aftermarket.
i would try some foam gasket around the housing before putting it back in the hole.

Be careful. I took the inside panel off the tailgate and everything looked good as well. It wasn't until I started scraping away at the sound deadening that I found a dime sized hole.

Yep, same here. Just saw some rust blisters under the 3rd break light. But when we had to fix the damage from a truck that crashed into my back, we discovered that rust had eaten away the back door from inside.
This fix is going to hold 3-4 years but ultimately I will have to get new rear door.
