***Cracked Dashboard Action Request***

Well, I'm still waiting on mine. Ordered a little more than a month ago. From what the service manager was telling me, different parts of the country have different waiting times.
This problem with the cracked dashes apparently are occurring in other models too. He was saying they are getting dashes in for Camry, Avalon, & one other I can't remember which, pretty quick. This dealership (or my area) is just slow for getting the 4Runner dashes. Other dealerships may be quick to get the 4Runner dash, but slow for the other models I mentioned.

There was one thing I forgot to ask the service mgr. Are these replacement dashes for an '03 - '05, and '06 - '09, or everybody is getting the '06 - '09? Anybody know? There's not much of a difference I believe, but one thing I do know for sure is the center channel speaker cover IS DIFFERENT.
For those of you with an '03 - '05 and have had your dash replaced, does the speaker trim panel now have the JBL emblem on it? Or is it plain like before? If it says JBL, then it's the '06 - '09 dash.

Thanks

The campaign is only for '03~'05 4Runners currently, it's possible that the new corrected dashes are patterned on the '06~'09 dash boards.

anyone have the part number for the two (yellow zinc) screws directly under the radio (when climate control is pulled out)?

dealer tech didn't think it was necessary to reinstall those when doing the dash replacement. also, didn't tighten the screw behind the little storage compartment which caused a nice vibration noise until I found it and tightened it.

the service mgr mailed me the missing screws, but they are not the right ones. they go right through the holes without even touching anything. trying to avoid having to drive to dealer and taking the time for a tech to work on it.

I guess I missed that part about it only being for '03 - '05s.
:lookout:Hopefully someone with the center dash speak can post saying whether or not the new panel has the JBL emblem on it.

Is it unreasonable to think my dash should be in by now? Dealer told me they ordered it Sept. 7th? I'm just concerned something wasn't ordered right

j_h_cole, my dealer said that the demand over the past two months has gone through the roof. According to them, two to four months. Geez! Well, I've lived with it for a little over two years, so I suppose a couple more months will not kill me.

Just got my new dash put in by Ft Walton Beach Toyota. Did a great job on it! Super stoked.

Got it. I don't want to sound unappreciative because it's awesome they're servicing these parts, but it seemed like many others are getting the parts in much much quicker

I just got a call yesterday from Toyota of Knoxville. I have to take the wife's in next wed to get hers replaced. she is happy!

Dash

From when I went to my dealership for to get the pictures taken to the time i got my dash installed it took 4 months. It looks great now!

we took my wifes in yesterday to Toyota of Knoxville and they got it done. looks real good and she is happy. I called the service guy today and gave him my VIN and he went ahead and ordered one for mine! woo hoo!

Thanks for this thread!

I just picked up an 04 SR5 and the called the dealer for the recall, they said 1-2mo for delivery then they can get it installed. I will update once that has done. Thanks t4r.org!

I called my dealer yesterday here in Western NC to check on the status of mine. It was ordered back in August. It was there ready to be installed, just waiting for me to call I guess! Scheduled for the end of the month.

03 silver 4runner limited.

I spoke to my dealer in Houston (Sterling McCall) and he said it would be 90-120 days. Apparently, he had done a few of them and those only took 30 days to get the parts in, but it's changed now for some unknown reason.

just got mine done

I took it to the dealer in October and the dash came in the end of November. The dealer put it in. I had to take it back because the glove compartment wouldnt open. They fixed that stating that the old screws that they were supposed to use didnt grab. They also replaced a dash bulb that stopped working after they swapped the dash out. No charge, looks good, fits good, no complaints

Got the call this morning my dash is in. Getting it installed Friday morning. Ordered October 7th.
Hudiburg Toyota in Midwest City, Oklahoma.

The process seems really too simple to be true. I went in for an oil change, advised them about the "letter i received."

Dealership changed the oil, took pics and said the new dash will arrive within a month.

We shall See ....

Still no answer.. I have called Toyota of Plano left messages and have not heard back ......

Update: New dashboard

Update from North Houston,

Finally got into Tejas Toyota in North Houston and got my Dashboard replaced! Got my cracked evaporator core replaced while they were in there, along with the cooler valve and some of the tubing. The recall helped pay for some of the labor, so it ended up being a nice deal! It took a little while, though it looks great :)

Unfortunately, now my aftermarket stereo deck is acting up...
