Holy balls. I'll just have to be diligent about using a sunscreen and Lexol then. I'm guessing the DIY of this is a weekend project at best? Then again, while it's off it wouldn't be a bad time to upgrade to LED dash lights! lol...uuuuggh.

You can upgrade your dash led's without taking off the dash. I haven't done it but several members have switched them out. If you do some searches you will find several threads on it.
Has anyone used the Coverlay covers? In the $200-250 range...I've read up on these but can't get all the info for Toyota.

Oh, I'm definitely getting this thing! I waited too long and missed the recall.
Anybody know if the light gray is the color option to match our gray interior?

There are over 100 pages of responses, and I am not going to go through each page, so forgive me if this has been stated.
I bought my 2003 4Runner used with 118k miles on it, and at around 235k, I received a letter from Toyota saying the cracked dash was a recall. I called the dealer, they wanted to look at my dash to see if it was covered under the recall.
I had a small hairline crack along the front, about 6 inches long. They said "a crack is a crack, covered" and when my new dash came in, they said they would give me a call.
About 2 months later, the Toyota dealer called and said my new dash was in. Took in the truck, they gave me a loaner car for free while mine was being fixed. (2 days) I couldn't have asked for better service.
My truck had over 235k miles on it, and was 14 years old..I expected cracks on the dash, and for Toyota to cover this for free when I really didn't need it, impressed me. I'd check to see the recalls, see if yours is covered.

Was this recent? I thought this TSB expired early 2017?

It couldn't of been recent, the Warranty Enhancement Program ended on May 31, 2017, if the dash wasn't inspected and approved by that date, it's too late to take advantage of the Warranty Enhancement Program.
You are correct, this was done in fall of 2016, I didn't know it expired. My apologies.
Finally a 4th gen has landed at my local pull-a-part yard (Express Pull N Save, LaVergne, TN) and grabbed a couple of small interior parts. Saw a dashboard that was clean no cracks (just dirty)if anyone wants to go and pull it!

I have a small crack in my dashboard that appears to be enlarging. Of course I missed the recall. I guess the minimal sun exposure did it after this thing was kept in a garage most of its life. Is there any way to fix a small crack? Like something that would just bond it, like a silicone gel of some kind? I Just don't want it getting bigger.

I was sh*t out of luck on the recall as I had bought my 4R the month after it expired (previous owner actually got the recall notice but ignored it). I opted to install the Coverlay and am very happy with the results. Here is a quick write-up with some pictures/video:

This could be a good option for me sometime down the road, should my dash get worse. The only downfall (I’ve noticed) of my 4R previously being in Cali its whole lifespan is the cracked dash and a small sun spot on the rear pass. fender cladding piece. I’d take that any day over a rusted frame though. I missed the recall by a month as well. I purchased my 4R the same month (May), didn’t join up on here till the next month and then learned of the recall. I still regret not trying and calling them when I first learned of this.

Towards the end of the deadline period and after most people weren't having to wait but a few months or less, in the beginning many had to wait up to 18 to 24 months, I had mine inspected and approved and got on the waiting list in December 2017 and got my dash 3 months later.
If you haven't been checking with them once a month or less just to let them know you're still waiting it's very possible you got passed up, I check in every 2 weeks, they may have tried to contact you and couldn't get a reply back, if so you may be out of luck, there have been several people say the dealer said they tried to contact them and got no reply and sent their replacement dash back to toyota or gave it to the next person on the list, those people to the best of my knowledge lost out on getting their dash replaced.
Your best bet now is to contact the dealer and see what they say, I wish you the best of luck!

Same thing with my 2003 Toyota 4runner 4th gen happened. Though I got something from Toyota and they fully replaced it for free. This was just within the last 6 months. So not sure why Toyota is giving you the run around on it. Toyota said it was a known defect as they were not using enough glue to seal the dashboard in place. Might call them back or check federal recall listings for your vin.
