You are correct, this fuel saver does not just make one change within the ECU. On the contrary it makes a change to every load based table which all add up to a slightly more efficient running engine. This increase in efficiency saves fuel and squeezes out a little more power as well.

So lets start with some very basic questions. Each one only has 3 possible answers.

All else equal -

Is there more, less, or the same fuel going to the engine in closed loop?

Is there more, less, or the same fuel going to the engine in Open loop?

I bought the EcoBlock a few weeks ago and installed it this afternoon on my 2017 TRD Offroad - stock. I will post my findings in a later post. I see roughly 19 - 20mpg on an interstate trip. In the city I am getting about 16mpg.

I bought this to see if I could get better fuel economy. I did not buy it for increased torque or horsepower.

Installation took about 5 minutes - the tricky part is making sure the o'ring sets and doesn't fall out of place. Took me two attempts to get that done - other than that it is just 2 screws that are supplied in the kit.

Thanks, I look forward to your results good or bad. Keep in mind there is no "learning time" for the ECU as some have suggested so the results are instant.

The loose O-ring is a pain for some during the install so we are going to mold it into the part during the next production run.

This is not a new phenomenon, unfortunately.

It's unfortunate. The product probably does lean out the AFR under open throttle and likely does nothing under 95% of the time in closed loop. It probably does have some incremental power improvement under WOT at the expense of shorter engine life. Toyota can tune the engine to do exactly what it wants for AFR, spark, etc. And it designs the engines from the ground up for optimized fuel economy, power, and emissions. To improve one, you're going to reduce something else.

To claim 8% better fuel economy and also claim not to run lean is simply not a claim that can be taken seriously. I'm really trying to tease out is whether it's foolishness or fraud. If he doesn't know the answer to my questions it's foolishness. If he does - it's probably fraud.

I trust the forum is a place where you get great information from other members that are willing to share it. It's worked that way for me, and why on the rare occasion I do post. I have more phone calls and PM's with members than I do posts, but that just the way I roll I guess. I think it's because I see how readily some people jump in and attack other members for no apparent reason. That's the bad thing about all forums I guess.

As for the thread - I did purchase the Ecoblock, and like many people that read parts or all of the thread I was curious if it works. Some members that did try it say they saw a slight increase in fuel economy. I thought what the heck - if it works great, if not there is a money back guarantee so what am I out but a few minutes of my time. As for how it works - I just don't care.

I know Quirt about as well as I know you [MENTION=5517]pathfinder[/MENTION]1. The only difference is I can find information about Quirt and his company and what they do. In my opinion that adds to his company's credibility.

I indicated in my earlier post that I will share my results with the forum members and I will do so - that will be my 7th post then, not quite the 18 you have, but hey - it's a process! :thumb:

I wouldn't expect anyone to trust me as I haven't built any credibility here. I'm just calling it like I see it. If you can't prove the cynics wrong then it's likely they were right. This Quirt guy keeps telling us what a genius engineer he is and how stupid his doubters are, so I'm sure it will work out well for you.
