Crazy clean and waterproof PINCH WELD MOD?

Ok, I have some crazy rubbing going on up front. I had a light rub when backing up; now it is medium rub on the drivers side and a hard rub on the passenger side. Will have to do pinch weld mod and perform surgery on the plastic liner. Wondering if anyone has come up with a neat way of doing it. Any ideas?

Was thinking of finding some plastic at Home Depot and riveting it to the surrounding liner with some FIPG for a seal. Any leaner examples out there?

You can cut off the bottom part and use a little heat to reform it

I had the same problem until I removed my spacers. Problem solved.

Definitely try cutting the plastic first. Mine drags on my aftermarket splash guards, so I have just had to trim them back an extra bit.

The only NEAT way I've seen is to cut out a section and weld in a new plate... I chose to use the HAMMA!

I'm stock (suspension-wise) and don't rub with my 265/75-R16's

You can use a heat gun and soften the liner then quench/cool it with a wet rag. Make sure you hold the liner back while cooling (gloves help).

If this doesn't buy you enough, pull the liner back and pound the pinch weld flat then do the heat mod.

I don't know, I rub a bit on the passenger side only when turning. I only notice it in reverse because the tire tread catches the splash guard.

You might have to go from the D setting on your light racing control arms to the C setting. Maxing out the caster should give you another .5 of an inch. You shouldn't have to do the pinch weld mod with 265's. Thanks to all for the replies. Yes, I'm running 265/75 with UCA, and yes, it rubs like hell. Checked this AM and I actually split the liner last night on the right hand side. So I have no doubt there are some with 265's that rub. Mine rubbed at nearly full lock before installing spacers.

Seems like the best approach before chopping up the weld. Reforming plastic could also be part of the solution. I don't think the place I had do the alignment followed Light Racing's recommendations for setting alignment. If my Radflo gear is ready I may be installing a new setup this weekend. It'll give me an excuse to redo the alignment and make the caster change. Besides, it'll help add cover when turning, which is nice.
