Crazydubman's 97 limited runner build

They look really good but why all the awesome design details and leave the lower control arm mounts unprotected? The coverage everywhere else looks like the best on the market, just surprised to not see them covered. Otherwise, I would sell my full set of Savage skids for a set of these.

Do all the other front skids cover those? at full droop the lower control arms droop out enough to possibly cause clearance issues I would think. May have to look into that???

Looks like budbuilts do. Allpro look to be uncovered. What about Savage Offroads? Looks like the lower arm mounts are uncovered there too.

Ill talk to Darren tomorrow and see what they say about maybe adding something to that corner. My only concern is that I don't want to have to pull the skid just to do an alignment.

I have no contact issues with my setup with my extended travel Icons. You can see from the photo that i have smashed my driver side pretty good right where the lower adjuster cam is. I hate to send your guys back to the drawing board now but its something that will make these top notch.

That is what I though..but didn't want to just assume. Maybe ill have to take mine off and see how it rides without it. This looks like it would work well to help protect your catalytic converter from being stolen also.

I may see about having them build some additional skids or guards for the side where the cat is to help deter. Possibly something simple. We will see.

I see what your saying. Ill check to see whether they can modify the design to give those a little more coverage.

I can understand not wanting to pull the skid for an alignment, but the chance of wrecking your alignment on the rocks with no protection is a bigger issue in my opinion.

Feel free to show them the above photo to illustrate your point to them if you like.

Very true. If they leave about an inch off the front, there should be no problem with doing the alignment with the skid installed.

Hmmm My interesting these skids is completely there. Looking forward to the finished product as skids are in my future and I like the way these attach to the front cross member.

Just stopped by and talked to Darren and showed him the pictures.

He said that given the 3" gap between the skid (Which hangs about 1/2" lower than the control arm mount) and the lower control arm itself, it would be very unlikely that the bolt would actually get hit.

He suggested to give it hell over the next couple trips (Niagra rim next weekend, maybe a Hollister trip beginning of June and Slick rock June 28th-30th) and give my feedback. If I am able to scrape the arm mounts, they will go ahead and add some gusseted wings off the sides to help deflect any possible contact with those points.

He has no problem with adding them to the original design if they are needed. However, there is no sense in adding the additional material if they are not going to be in danger. I will get some better pictures of that area in a couple hours to give a little better perspective of how much protection they have now.

I really really really like the skids. They really look like they could take a beating. They are probably the best full set I have seen yet. If I hadn't built my own I would definitely consider these.

Thanks,
I know Any7 took a lot of time figuring out where to put the extra support. I think they did a great job. :thumb3:

 Not sure how I'm not subscribed to this thread already....anyway, the skids look killer man! hopefully you won't have any issues with the LCA bolt, but it sounds like they'll help fix it you do. Looking forward to see the MT/Rs mounted on the beadlocks!

Thanks man. Been following your build too.

I can't see the LCA bolts being an issue either but hopefully time with show whether there is a need for an extension on the sides.

Definitely looking forward to the beadlocks too. they definitely have been sitting for a while now waiting to be used.

I hope the larger overhang on the A7 keeps them safe, I hammered my passenger side last weekend. Im ready for you to get them on the trails and put them through their paces! Both the skids and your new Hutch's.

After you get a tire mounted could you grab the bathroom scale and weigh the combo for me?

You mean the larger overhang on the skids?

The hutchinsons were right around 50lbs with the inner beadlock. The MTR's per the manufacturers specs weigh 62lbs.

That puts the setup at right around 112lbs per corner

Yeah i was referring to the overhang you described on the front skid, thanks for the wheel/tire weight. Thats a heavy sum *****. Ever throw around the idea of a supercharger?

Here's my latest skid carnage.
