Custom Trail Emblem Made

I would be willing to Cerakote a couple of these emblems to try it out.

For those that are not familiar with Cerakote, it is a ceramic based heat cured coating that is used on firearms. But it also has many other applications. Basically, you can cerakote anything that is metal, polymer and even wood.

Comes in just about every color.

I don't work for Cerakote or anything. Just do gun refinishing on the side.

looks good! i personally like them higher and noticed that Toyota actually puts the TRD PRO higher on that pillar.
 
Mine arrived today . They were broken ..... Nothing a little glue can't fix .

I would suggest taping them on a sheet of cardboard .

Thanks, I agree on the placement :) I haven't stuck them on yet. Just wanted to check it out. I still have to finish the dip, wash, wax and seal first.

Did you get them from Shapeways? (the link in my sig) If so I would suggest getting in contact with them. All of the ones I have ordered have been very well packaged.

Thanks for the great work. I have been looking for this for a while for my 11 TE. considering to order the BLACK METAL version or the Solid Black plastic version. What is the difference between the two? Would the metal version not have the lines like the plastic version? Would it over all look better? please let know if you have pictures side by side or if anyone has put the metal version on their truck. thanks

What are you guys using to stick these to the truck? I assume double sided tape but is there a preferred one that holds up to the elements better?

And, are you cutting the tape with an exacto knife or something similar?
 
3M double sided automotive tape seems to be the way to go. It apparently is what manufacturers use for badges. I bought a roll off Amazon for fairly cheap and cut out individual strips to follow the lines of the back side of the emblem. I'm about three weeks, two blizzards and four car washes in and they haven't moved at all.

I am not sure how the metal version would come out. For the price I would hope that they would smooth it out. You should call or contact them before you order one. That would be my advice. Maybe I should have tacked a dollar or two on to all of the prints I have sold (all the prices are cost) and used that to try out some test prints of the metal materials.

As for the strong and flexible plastics they come out real nice IMO there is some very minor stepping (you can't really even feel it), a few coats of plast-dip covers them well. I imagine a few decent coats of quality rattle-can would cover too.

What size tape did u get??? Part no. If possible!! TIA!
 
Interesting that a few weeks ago, I spotted a grey trail in Tysons Corner, and it had a chrome "trail" on it, and it was not the design being shown here, it was more normal letters.

It is more than likely a "name your toyota" badge. Did it look like this?

Yes, the letters were plain like that, no fancy font or anything. It was where "SR5" or "Limited" would be.

I never heard of the "name your Toyota" thing.
 
I saw an Acura today that cut me off and then got stopped at the light in front of me.

It had the requisite ghetto quality sub-woofers shaking the trunk lid, and no less than 5 additional badges on the trunk. Unfortunately I did not have my camera so no pic.

However from left to right it had:

1) Turbo 2) Limited 3) 3.2 Turbo 24V 4) Acura X 5) Neuspeed

Oh yeah, the factory alloys had a shake and shoot black enhanced by orange highlights on the inside of the spokes.

Classy. :-)
 
Material

Are these only available in metal? I would prefer to stick something along the lines of a plastic (3D Printing material) or even a vinyl sticker on the car. If anyone has any info please let me know!!
