Out of respect I'm going to stick with this not very revealing photo of his rig. I hold out hope he will soon be on the forum too. Want to save the glory of sharing with everyone on the forum for him to have, it's not my place.
I will say, we were walking to his car in the parking lot yesterday and I had to mention how factory it looked. I'd be lying if I said I didn't have my doubts about adding this to his car. But it turned out great and I think it's a nice, tasteful addition to the car.
For those wondering: Trail Emblem Revision 02 in Black Strong and Flexible
It needed to be painted to smooth out the texturing, he used Krylon Semi-Gloss Black. Again, looks great in my (and his and my brother's) opinion.
So when you painted it with the semi gloss it ended up smoothing out? I've had problems with mine. I painted mine. Looked bad. Sanded and painted again. Still looked bad. Plastidipped. Look nice and smooth until it dried and then had dimples all over it. Waste of 40 bucks of emblems. I understand it's not the emblems fault. Wish I could figure this out.

I just asked him for the details. Sounds like he wet-sanded it lightly multiple times, each time going with a slightly finer grit. Then just painted it with several very light coats of the Krylon Semi-Gloss Black.
It does have a bit of a woodgrain looking texture if you look very closely at it. One of those things nobody will notice until you point it out, even then they'll have to get close to see it as it isn't noticeable from any reasonable distance you would ever be from the car, including walking by the emblem to open the door or get in the vehicle.

Did you order this from Shapeways? How did you "attach it" to your 4Runner body? I just bought mine and want to adhere it correctly so it lasts
For mine I used 3M double sided automotive tape. It is strong as hell and can be removed later if you want to.
Just clean the area perfectly before applying.
It's just vinyl, not the plastic version

You guys still making these? I see them on that website. What about making small changes to it? I think it could be thinner with more angle on the edges. I wish I could show you. But just not so harsh lines.

Yes these are still available.
Changes, no sorry. The bridges are already pretty thin. Version 2 matches the curvature and thickness of the OEM badges.
