While I was rotating the tires today, I saw the passenger side cv boot has a tear in it with grease everywhere. I cleaned up what I could and did a little duck tape fix for a temporary solution so dirt won't get in there and mess up more stuff.
I gave a call to the local Toyota dealership and got a quote of $261 for a new cv axle. This price includes a core deposit of $75.
That's a little pricey especially if I replace both cv axles. Figure its better to do both sides as preventive maintenance.
Now my question.
Is it better to go with Toyota parts or autozone/pep boys parts? A few months ago I went with new Toyota upper and lower ball joints.
I do some 4 wheeling so I maybe the Toyota parts might be stronger. Not sure though.
Thanks,
Brad
