My number 3 cylinder isnt working on my 1st gen with a 22re. Has compression, fuel injector works and just replaced the cap and rotor and plugs and wires.. does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong?

If you've got compression, and fuel, your lacking spark. I assume the engine is running rough, I would start simple. Check to make sure all the wires are snapped snug on the plugs. If they all seem attached well, pull that plug wire barely off, have someone crank the truck, and see if you've got spark. If not, work your way back. Maybe a bad wire, who knows. Sounds like an ignition problem. Especially considering it was the last thing tinkered with.

Members have addressed the possible source and if they do not work then suggest start the engine and take a hose, place one end on the problem cylinder and the other to your ear and listen for any unusual mechanical sound. Had similar problem; after taking compression test where all cylinders were within spec's was about to disassemble the engine when neighbor suggested the hose, after giving him some flack I tried it and sure as heck the cause for rough running engine was evident and it was due to that particular cylinder lifter. In my case, the static compression test did not detect the problem, it was only with the engine running that I was able to find the source. Hopefully the problem can be narrowed down to something minor; i.e., plug, or plug wire?? Anyhow thought I would add my $.02., and food for thought.

Would be interested if locate the problem.

The compression was 150lbs on all 4 cylinders. I checked for spark and it has it ill give the hose idea a try hopefully its something simple. It happened the day after I used injector cleaner and happened right after I got gas. Idk if that was just a coincidence or not but as far as I know it isn't a fuel problem

Assume when you say spark that it includes spark thru the plug and not just the plug wire??? Not familiar with injector system and wonder if injector cleaner could have dislodged a carbon deposit, etc. and clogged the injector; perhaps knowledgeable member on injectors can advise???

Its running way better sprayed a bunch of starting fluid to clean some parts. I guess I sucked up some dirt when I went mudding a week ago and it caused the cylinder to not function
