I used denim based carpet underlayment I found at Lowe's, I peeled off the old stuff and took in a sample, and that's what it appeared to be.

Lots of luck and daily CL searching for 3 months and I finally found a set of wheels.
Six Spoke AMP 18's, I was going to run some Tundra split 5's until I found something like this, but these were actually cheaper. Looks like they were only ran for a year or so, no major damage or curb rash.

In casse anone was following this build, figured I should update it with some things I've done.
I took the running boards back off, am starting the satoshi mod, ordered LED dash lights and am preparing to gather parts for the lift.
I'm planning on:
8 wrap LC's
Tundra front TRD struts with spacers or Tundra 5100's
Limited Flares
Fj 6 Spokes (powder-coated a bit crazy) with 285 M/Ts
4.88 Rear End (2WD until I find the second tacoma hub)
I installed my sub set-up, but am taking it back out for a bit to have an alarm installed and carpet the box.
Here's a picture of the set-up.
And of course a video to show why losing all my cargo area was worth it

I know it's yours, and your music, but why would you do that? I just do not understand.

Double holy shit! I said earlier "that's a lot of bass" but what I really meant was "THAT'S A LOT OF BASS!!!!" :lol:
I'd be getting stomach aches every time I drove your truck hahaha I'll stick with my (2) Memphis M3 12's.

I got into car stereos a couple years ago and have been through about 6 systems in 3 vehicles, this time I wanted to Max it out without going to a full on wall, that way I have very little desire to upgrade.
As to why, there isn't really a method to the madness, I joined car audio forums and watched YouTube videos of the gigantic systems and have always wanted to build one. I figured it's much more useful than having 600hp on the street or a bunch of shiny chrome bits, and if I ever want to I can sell it off and make all my money back unlike many other car mods.
This is as big as you can go in a 4runner without walling it off behind the backseats without losing all musicality at low volumes.

It's not so much stomach aches, but you do feel like you weigh about 1/2 of your weight and you've been lightly choked after a good 5 minute blast of really low notes.
After a couple weeks you get used to it though, then you can laugh at other people bailing out of the truck when the bass hits.

I am doing the stereo in my 97 as part of the project. Not doing that, but two JL sealed sub box, boston Acustics (spelling) in the front and back doors.... Keepin her looking stock.... Cerwin Vega Amp... 4 channells by 50 and 2 by 250 for the subs... pretty normal but if Stevie Ray is rippin It sounds like he is back from the dead in the passangers seat.

Sounds nice, my runner came with old school Boston acoustics components up front, I wish I could've kept them, but I'm running around 100w to each mid and tweeter to keep up with the sub.

USPS Dropped off a couple packages today,
2" Toytec BL
1.25" All-Pro Offroad Spacers and ET lugnuts
I'm still not sure if I'm going 33 or 35 though, I would like to do 35's but I'm unsure about clearances, I wish there was a street friendly 35x10.5 for a 17.
you'll need more than 2" to get 35's under there, I believe.

Lot's of mixed information on the subject, luckily I can pull one of the 35's off of my dad's pickup to test fitment before I pull the trigger on anything.
EDIT: I will also be looking at a 35 that runs as small as possible, closer to 34.4 or less hopefully.

Lots of news today, picked up a complete 3rz with wiring harness, clutch, all the hardware, basically a dressed longblock, for 300 bucks. It's obviously blown, and it does have a cracked valve cover, but nothing a rebuild can't fix.
My idea with the motor is that now I can more easily and slowly go through and build it for my Turbo and swap in the whole motor at once.
I'm dreaming of doing a flashy motor, drawing inspiration from the tuner crowd, doing some shaving, wire tucking, relocating, etc. And making the engine bay look good.
I also picked up a manifold to replace the cracked one I have now, I didn't actually go to the shop, but they are currently building a Turbo 3rz 01 4runner, I'm definitely going to go check it out soon.
And I went to spray my satoshi'd grill with what I thought would be good paint, and the 6$ can of rustoleum "professional launched globs of paint all over my grill, luckily it wasn't a good paint job, because I had to knock it down to get some imperfections out of the bondo work.
This was my first time working with bondo ever, so it was hard to judge how flat stuff was before the paint went on.
P.s the bondo work is definitely required, maybe not on Aftermarket grills but on factory grills you will have 2 holes and a giant recess to fill.
