Small update where I didn't really do anything but spend some money.
Got a winch finally, craigslist was good to me and I was able to pick up this Mile Marker SEC8, came with 80 feet of cable, the factory hook with strap, roller fairlead, and an extra brand new wire kit and hook strap, supposedly it was only wound out ~20 feet about 3 times, and it's only 8 months old, and just looking at it, I believe it. Will need to pick up a remote since it came with the wrong one.
Paid only 200$ and the best part is it was literally 3 minutes from my house.
I also tried something new for the first time, I had something directly imported from Japan. I used Upgarage's new shipping service through Croooober. Super easy, just choose your part, they'll email you a shipping quote and you say yes or no, then they invoice you through paypal. ~1 and a half weeks later these were at my doorstep.
Genuine Hilux Surf clear corners. I fell in love with my Amber corner lights, but the quality of the Depo brand lights is just garbage, cheap plastic and I have about a half a cup of water sitting in the bottom of the driver's side light. I will be Amber-izing these OE lights the same way I did the Depo's.
And finally after wanting them literally since 3 years ago I balled up and spent the money on Weathertechs, got in on the recent Group Buy, and I'm more than happy, they fit amazingly well, especially considering how much the floorboard shifted around when i was "massaging" the firewall with the sledgehammer. Should've bought them a long time ago.
And lastly, my driver's side headlight had not been wanting to ignite since it started getting colder this year, a common issue with the Morimoto 3Five SS type ballasts I was running, so I got some closeout 3Five DSP type ballasts that were leftover from the recent discontinuation of the 3Five series. that means I've replaced the whole electronics system on the junkyard HID's at this point. Looking back I should've bought new in the first place, but oh well.

They are so damn nice, I wish I would've ponied up years ago. It seems like a hell of a lot of money to spend on floormats, but it's definitely worth it.

Been working on this Pacesetter header, I was eyeballing the stainless OBX in the mid 200$ range, but after months of ebay searching it, this finally popper up and for 70$ shipped to my door, couldn't say no.
Started off by spraying it with VHT Flameproof, went with Aluminum color, would've had it ceramic coated if this was a nicer header.
I've also got the primaries wrapped with black header wrap now, trying to keep some heat off of the intake pipe.
And I bought and installed a LCE short throw shifter kit while they were on sale a few weeks ago.
Went ahead and installed it today, feels weird and different, but really solid.

Haven't checked this thread in quite a while, I was actually planning my first snow trip of the year the weekend we got the little flurry down in the valley, so i ended up just sliding around home instead, I'd love to tag along some time if I'm available though!

Part one of a decently sized update coming at you. More stuff tomorrow since I need to snap pics.
Added to the parts pile, OEM UBJ's, going to be doing all 4 ball joints soon, possibly adding TC spindle gussets, and maybe wheel bearings as well.
Ponied up since I got the short shifter and got the Greddy shift knob I've been eying for the last year, feels nice and the weight makes a bit of difference even though it's not meant for a foot tall shifter lol.
Jumped on the group buy and picked up a drifter style antenna mount for a flag setup so I can go to the dunes this year. I'll take a pic of the flag setup tomorrow. Need to get this painted, it's not silver anymore, has a nice coat of surface rust from being on unpainted a couple weeks.
Corner lights came out absolutely flawless, even surprised myself, and they look amazing on the 4runner. Gave it a fresh wash in this pic, nice and shiny turd, which lasted about 10 minutes before having shit splattered all over the side, oh well, mainly wanted to give the inner fenders and undercarriage a bath.
And the biggest news from this update is I scored an amazing deal on a second set of shoes for the turd yesterday.
Wheels will be going bye-bye as I don't want to buy lugnuts and they're too narrow for the tires anyways.
I'm thinking 15x10" steelies with enough backspacing that I won't have to run my spacers. Possibly some gold or bronze powdercoat on em, we'll see. But don't worry, the signature purple FJ's and BFG's aren't going anywhere, just wanted to be able to mix it up a bit.
They're Toyo M/T's, in a LRC 35x13.5x15 flavor by the way.
Tried to take some fitment shots but it was too dark. You'll just have to take my word that it looks mean for now.
More tomorrow, extra shot from the recent snow flurry.

Alright, got dark before I had time to take pics of some stuff, so maybe ther'll be a part 3 to this.
Here is the header ready to go on, recently had a P0420 code pop up, so I'm thinking the cat's bad since I replaced the rear O2 around 10k ago. So I'll be going full 2.5" exhaust, high flow cat, maybe a resonator, maybe not. And getting a URD simulator.
Installed pic of the greddy shift knob, you get to see the mint shift boot I scored a month ago as well. Interior is starting to look pretty nice.
And my flag set-up, went real big, 3x5' flags on a 9' firestik flag staff.

Went to Metaltech today and picked up some Total Chaos spindle gussets, all I need to figure out now is wheel bearings and I can get my front end freshened up.
And I grabbed these at the junkyard today to minimize downtime, I can get these all freshened up with balljoints, bearings and gussets without ever turning a wrench on the truck.

Welp, my secret santa gift didn't last long, just spent 2 hours installing and wiring up the rocklights I got, and hooked the one side up to make sure I was all good to move on and, well only one actually came on, the other 5 simultaneously melted the solder joints right off the LED, so now they're useless. Back to square one on the rocklights.

Still plugging away, made a trip to the steel yard today, who needs a truck anyways?
That's metal for my rear bumper, which I've finally started working on, I've got the rear crossmember, hitch mount tie in's and hitch reciever all welded up, going to start work on the actual structure soon, going with a tube center for lightness and bolt on plate endcaps for protection of the quarters and ease of removal.
Also did a couple small things over the last couple weeks.
Finally mounted up the other side's quarter flare, threw on a crap paintjob, literally 1 coat no prep.
And got the aluminum overflow tank mounted up.

Huge non-4Runner related update, I finally treated myself to a new phone, so no more blurry dark pictures for me, It's 20 Megapixel ultra clarity from here on out guys.
The turd got some love too though.
First off, I shouldn't be getting lost anytime soon. Garmin 52LM hardwired in.
Been slowly but surely working on the bumper too.
And some random shots to mess with the new camera.
More updates on the way soon, just wanted to test it out. Lots of stuff in the woodworks.

Lowering the turd a bit, picked up some OME 890's off of craigslist recently, should level out my ride, right now the 8 wraps with ~200 lbs in the back sits at 5"+ of left, wayyy too high and it looks goofy and leaves huge wheel gap, looking for little to no rake.
As a bonus, you get to see some of the other stuff I still need to install, winch, oil catch can and header.
Hit a snag when I went to put in the other shock, right as I was getting the slightly tweaked stud straight, it decided to snap, so I had to cut, grind and weld till I had a fresh stud on there, came out good though.
Hit s snag in the tire area as well, one of the Toyos had a small pinhole in the sidewall, but, never fear, i just bought a new one and kept the punctured one as a spare, set of 5 giant tires anyone?
Also started gathering gauges, got an Autometer sport-comp oil temp gauge and the DIN sized triple gauge mount for my dash, going to put an oil pressure and AEM wideband in there as well.
I'll be test fitting the Toyos tomorrow using a wheel off my brother's runner that just happens to be the same size and backspace as a wheel I've been eyeing, we'll see if it fits, since I'm kind of blazing a fresh trail here. fingers crossed.

They fit! Now I can order up some wheels and get em all mounted up, they are actually fitting better than the 315's, the backspace ends up slightly less than the FJ's + spacers which brings the track width and scrub raidus in, so it's looking like I won't be rubbing on the frame at lock anymore, and the firewall clearance these big guys will need should be minimal.
Side note, 15" Ultra 164's DO NOT FIT in any width or offset on Tacomas or 3rd gen 4runners, the face of the wheel hits the calipers, they will barely bolt up.
