that's awesome! too bad you took out the rear end. I've never rebuilt a rear end, so hats off to ya!

You just have to be ready when it hits the fan... Luckily there's lots of Toyota parts sitting around the PNW or I'd have been up shit creek a few times.

Definitely what I'm hoping for. I'm going to toss the 315 BFG KO's on them for a while and drop to 285's down the road.

The AR23's are 24 lbs a piece and the Toyo M/T's are heavy as hell, 80 lbs a tire.

The Konigs only weigh a hair over 20 lbs each, and the BFGs sit at about 62 lbs.

So overall I'm shedding 22 lbs a corner of rotational mass and unsprung weight. Once I step down to 285's I'll be 10 lbs less all around and have a little more get up and go thanks to the gearing.

And I don't even know how much more drag I've got with these wide ass M/T's.

Solid plan. Going down to 285's will probably be amazing, TBH. 22lbs/corner is pretty huge.
Looking forward to seeing the changes.

Lookin fresh.

Decided to run the spacers just cause I could. The massive decrease in weight revealed exactly how bad the rotors really are. The wheel shakes so violently when I brake it's ridiculous. I really need to freshen up the front brakes, they look like ass too.

Next step to the re-imagining, find mint painted stock bumpers, and body lift delete.

I'm not sure exactly what I'm gonna do yet. The front drivetrain needs some, work, something isn't right I found out a couple days ago, probably blown ring gear up there too. Also need some new CV boots and maybe a rebuild on the hubs, one side is locked in even though they aren't locked which is making everything spin all the time. Damn transfer case...

I'm not sure if I'm gonna go 285s and rebuild the front, or drop down to stock height on 265's, and source some 4.10 diffs locally, I'm leaning towards the latter at the moment, 20mpg would be nice, and with the way I've been using the runner it'd be a logical choice.

Lol, I was thinking that when I had to drop the oil pan, If there was no diff in the way it would've taken 10 minutes... It'll stay 4WD for sure, it's nice to have when I do need it, even if that's not as often as it was a year or two ago.

The original plan was really similar to what I've got going...

Low ride height and low COG but with 4WD, Simple lightweight but somewhat aggressive wheel and tire combo, turbo, etc. etc.

A lot of what changed to plan in the first place was cost, but now that I've crossed off a lot of the big stuff from the plan, it makes sense to go back and re-do the little stuff.

Found this little front mount, already setup for a Taco/4Runner, I'll go new and bigger soon enough, I'm looking at the Mishimoto Z-line, but this is nice since I won't have to chop anything up quite yet.

I also got some center caps for my rear wheels. I absolutely hate the TRD look, but they were all I could get, I'm waiting till spring to paint them so they'll come out nice.

We got snow too (6 inches of powder)! The runner handled it great, especially when you consider it's 2WD right now. You'll notice there's no bumper. It's taken off, ready for a new owner. Gotta remove the half-built rear bumper and body lift. We'll go from there I guess.

Oh, and I put in a new battery today, nothing special, just a decent battery in the right size. Got super lucky, it barely fit with my aftermarket overflow tank. A nut-hair bigger it wouldn't have worked.

More updates. Some good, some bad.

I got this sport hood, just waiting for paint, like lots of other stuff.

Found out this had happened during the same lockup that destroyed my rear diff. This was snapped inside of the spindle, of course it was the spindle that had the hub locked up, so it'd been spinning for a long time like this. Completely destroyed the inside of the spindle, and not sure yet if the hub is salvageable.

And I was driving home from work when I started getting a violent vibration on decel at around 55-60. Of course I'm ignorant and blow it off, two days later I crawl under to grease my driveshaft and see if that's the cause, and I found this.

Luck was on my side. I put about 100 miles on it like that.

I've also picked up some turbo goodies, and a new rear bumper, pics on that soon enough.

Here's the turbo stuff I picked up yesterday, it was either pick this whole lot up for 700$, or pay 3-400$ to have a downpipe made to fit the 5431 on the KO manifold. I think I made the better choice, I now have basically 2 full kits.

The lot came with:

Paradise Racing Stainless Manifold
5 Bolt T3 Downpipe (2 3/4")
Custom Ghetto (Like mine) 2 3/4" exhaust pipe
Ebay intercooler
Return line for 5431
Cleaned Intake with Ported Throttle Body and EGR deleted
2RZ pan with oil return bung welded in
All the intercooler piping setup for front mount intercooler and MAP sensor conversion
Turbonetics Raptor BOV
Tial MV-R Wastegate
Pretty well shot Competition Clutch stage 4 6 Puck

Turbo re-install coming soon I guess lol.

Did a little mockup with the new stuff and my 5431. It's lookin good. Everything is ridiculously tight to each other, but it all fits extremely well.
