been a few years, still wondering what the big surprise is!
Gonna be disappointed lol, I didn't realize I hadn't touched this thread. Haven't really driven the OG 4Runner since it died in 2017.
It does now run and drive again with some pretty damn good parts. It's sporting the low mile rebuilt bottom end out of my totaled single cab (2 years ago) with a freshly rebuilt head, completely reworked stock harness, evap delete, stainless header and full custom exhaust, K&N intake, etc. Basically as good as a stock N/A 3RZ can be.
Stock running gear at the moment. I'll be robbing the coilovers and some other things off it for my "new" 4Runner very soon. Check out that thread if you want to see what I'm up to nowadays, it's a much better read I'm sure, though not terribly long yet. It's "Saved from the Scrapyard: Ressurecting a 500$ 3rd Gen"
At the moment the 4Runner needs relatively little to drive, but the exterior is fairly haggard and I'm unsure of it's purpose in my hoopty fleet. It needs a brake line, some work on the tranny crossmember, an ignition switch, and a heater core line, that's really it.
If you're not feeling it after reading that I've basically abandoned my 4Runner for it's 500$ automatic twin, don't worry. I'm also the proud owner of a 1st gen Tacoma double cab that I scooped up for 3500$, which is now sporting mid-travel, 35s on scs wheels, armor, Sparcos and a supercharger. Soon to be longbed swapped and 5 speed swapped as well. Really should've kept up on a build thread for it, but I'm being selfish with the info, haven't really ever even taken a Pic since it was near stock.
