Dash Cam Recommendation

I need a dash cam recommendation.
Taking a relatively long road trip.
Will temporary mount this in my vehicle as you all know electronics have a 2 year lifespan before they are relatively "old".
Looking for a discreet, sub $100, front recording with good day/night video quality.
Don't mind using mini SD card memory.

Let me know if you have any first hand experience, otherwise I may just end up with a generic Mini 0805.

I've had the Mobius for a month now after a bunch of research. I went based on reliability and found that one seemed to be ok based on user reviews. I had a bad experience with KDLinks. While customer service was great, I had 2 separate units fail me. They refunded my money though!
 
I use a BulletHD Biker PRO. Great footage, day and night. Very discreet as the camera does not contain the recording electronics. It also does not have a screen. Wifi/stream to my phone. It's a set and forget unit. Not sub $100. Oh, no gps either. I didn't want my location/speed documented on the video.

I've been researching the cameras for a while now. Blackvue gets great ratings but they have their failures still even with the great price tag
 
I went with an A118c, so far so good. Very discreet. You can find them online from various sellers. I got mine from.spy tech through Amazon. Check out techmoan on YouTube or his website for alot of great reviews n sample vids of various dash cams.. I especially liked that mine did not have a battery which tends to be the first thing to fail on dashcams

I had Mobius for a month or so, but it died from overheating. Even with additional heat sink I made for it, the camera got very hot in California summer time sun and just fried.

I had 808#16 for some time but the 720 resolution was not good enough to see the license plate of offending cars. It also killed two 32G micro SD cards in one year (I guess the way it writes and erases files it exceeded number of writes for the card)

Since November last year I use Blueskysea Novatek 96650 Full HD 1080P G1WH. So far so good, but it's been only 3 months since I installed it.
 
I've had a mobius for a couple of years now, it runs on my Kawasaki Versys when I do summer rides (mounted on mirror stalk, not exactly 'vibration free') and in my wife's Sorento the rest of the time. No issues with heat or video quality, but I don't think we get as warm in Colorado as California...

I am currently running this cheap Pilot model I picked up at the local Wal Mart. It has pretty good quality for the price. It also has a night vision mode that is pretty decent.

After doing some research on dashcams that were relatively discreet with good night time recording, I just picked up a Street Guardian SG9665GC. Certainly more than $100 though.

Haven't installed it yet, but am happy to post pictures when that happens for anyone who may be interested. It will be hardwired to the interior fuse box.
 
I wanted a dash cam because of the bad drivers nowadays and didn't want to deal with tracking down witnesses and insurance companies hassling me.

After countless research looking for a cam in your price range I got the A118C. I was considering the original g1w as well but there are too many fakes to be able to track down the real one.

The technology isn't perfected and I wasn't willing to drop $200+ on something that may fail in a year. Blackvue is made in Korea and they're the leader in dash cams but like someone mentioned above, they fail too.

Costco sells a cobra branded one in the USA for ~$100 and up in Canada I have seen a Garmin made dash cam for ~$200.

I've been debating on a dash cam also
i read theres one that automatically records if there is an impact while parked and files them into folders. Im assuming it runs 24/7. i wouldn't mind that and also was a separate rear cam for the 4runner. a dual cam on one unit would be fine on my evo though...
im ok with gps and speed...suggestions
id like to do this as summer season is coming soon and the idiots will be out in full force
 
I have several ones in all my cars but this is the one I put into my 4Runner before I left for a cross country 6170 miles trip to the Grand Canyon...

I actually wired in a different non mirror image camera for a "cop cam" pointed at my drivers window. I've been around the block too many times.

I've been very happy with the quality of the video and with a large SD card can record several hours of video. That's for the cop who pulls you over for "marked lanes violation" and claims that "somewhere back there" you crossed the center line. Also, the second camera is constantly recording as well and will capture me using my turn signals etc. in case that ever becomes an issue in an accident case.

Another reason I like this one is that it lies nice and flat against my windshield. I have it semi-permanently wired into my truck.
 
So what do you use the dash cams for? I mean recording obviously, but beyond that in a 4R what is the point? I get it in a super car or sports car.
Is it just to record bad drivers? What do you do with the recording?
Genuinely curious.
