Dash Conversion?

I have a 99 4runner SR5 and my only true complaint about the interior is that the dash (speedometer, tachometer, fuel status, temperature) looks so out of date to me. I had an 86 4runner and there seems little difference in the design of it to me. But in the 4th generation 4runners, their dash (http://www.familycar.com/RoadTests/Toyota4Runner/Images2/Dash-md.jpg) seems so modern and up to date.

Is there any way without buying a new 4runner to get this dash? Any conversions/parts/etc.? I realize that the trip A/B button might not line up, the gauges might not line up and that the lights most likely don't line up, but I'm not asking for an identical swap, just something more modern that looks good and some what similar to that above picture. Thanks!

Buy a 4th Gen. It'll be cheaper and less complicated.

^That or just get some gauge faces or something. 4th gen gauge cluster bothers me, it's also extremely easy to scratch. Don't wipe a towel over it, you'll regret life haha.

+1, and then when you decide it's a huge PITA take a look at some of the aftermarket gauge facelift kits. A little bit of lipstick for the old pig... :art:

Same old Story. As part of my V8 conversion, i am going to use the Sequoia Gauge cluster on my 4runner.

The main thing is that it has Oil pressure gauge, volt and 75k on the odometer.

Ha, thats what I hate most about 3rd gen 4runners and 1st gen Tacomas. Their interiors are so 1995.

Im sure it can be done for a similar era vehicle. 1st step is mapping your current cluster. I may be up to help if you find a more modern cluster that isn't too new that fits (eg the V8 one posted looks good).
