Dashboard Glue

All,

I apologize in advance if this question has been asked/answered in the past, but I didn't find anything through the forum search.

Bought a 2010 a month back or so, and have been trying to figure out the best way to remove some glue that seems to have been used for either a GPS or radar detector right smack dab in the middle of the dash.

What's the safest way to remove it without damaging the dashboard or discoloring it? My wife told me nail polish remover, but who knows! Thanks in advance :cowboy:

is it still tacky? if so maybe goo gone but if it is dried I am not sure you are gonna get it off. I would spot test nail polish out of sight before trying it

^^ Probably Goo Gone will be your best bet. I believe its citrus based, but regardless do a test spot and see if it causes any problems to the dash.

Some Nail polish remover has acetone in it. Not sure about the science behind acetone but that might not play safe with some surfaces.

If it doesn't come up with goo gone it's probably damaged the surface.
You can also try repeated applications of mineral oil or even an interior detailer like armor all or Meguiars.
I would be very reluctant to use anything harsh like acetone.
IIRC "Goof Off" is not the same thing as "goo Gone" although I get them mixed up. Goof off has toluene and/or xylene in it. Stay away!

Thanks guys...thankfully it seems as if it's still somewhat pliable when I take my fingernail to it. I'll try out the goo-gone and report back! Dumbarses at the dealership should've taken care of this prior to me leaving the lot, but my excitement to get in and on the road was overwhelming!
