A few months ago, I showed my dash integration with my iPhone. It was a 3d printed piece that plugged into the 4Runner's dashboard with magnets.
The original:
Well, I have upped my game. I change phones on a regular basis and I purchased a phone with wireless charging. The new phone, a galaxy s7 edge, needed a new 3d printed dock. But this time I wanted it to connect magnetically.
So I present the new model:
Here is my phone hanging on a similar mount I built for my office wall:
Now my phone just mounts magnetically to the dock. I've tested it off-road and it holds like a dream. No sliding or falling even on the roughest terrain.
I've posted build instructions on my blog and have posted the 3D files on Thingiverse.
If anyone attempts to build something similar, I'll be glad to answer questions here.
