Daystar lift and 32" M/Ts

Hey Guys,

Here are some pictures of my 4Runner. It's a 2.5" Daystar lift with 255/75/17 BFG mud terrains. I removed the running boards and hope to have a local welder make me some rock sliders (pretty important in AZ).

How is the ride quality ?

Feels just like stock to me. I'm doing a fairly difficult trail around here known as "Backroad to Crown King" in a couple weeks. Then I'll really know how the ride has changed.

I think this should come as an option from Toyota; call it the "off-road package" or something. Just adding 2.5" lift and adding new taller tires makes the truck so much more capable for a person who actually wants to do average off-road trails.

No wheels spacers and no rubbing. They fit really well.

Nice, you should get all the chrome painted white to match, IMO that would look good. Some different rims as well, black maybe?

yeah your truck was one of those i saw before buying the tires. i love them so far.

save up for the OME lift and be done with it. :

yeah i was thinking about doing something like that. i found some black steelies for about 100 bucks, not sure if it's worth the hassle though. I might just use wheel paint and paint the ones i have.

For having that little .3 of an inch taller than a 265.70/17's it sure looks good .


I want that look so BAD but it's just not practical for me driving as a daily drive and doing 25k per year. I drive an do quite a few little excursions off road to where it would sure be nice.

No idea about the A/Ts, though I'm sure you wouldn't get the same sort of price ($100 a tire). Keep in mind this was a stock tire for the Rubicon, they're not exactly swampers. I don't think they'd be too bad for a daily driver but I've been driving modified cars for a long while so maybe I'm calloused.

Got to try out the tires at a place just outside of Phoenix call "Box Canyon of Hassayumpa". Typically the place has running water you drive through but it's been dry for a couple weeks and no running water. All was not lost though since I got to try the tires out in the sand, dirt, and over rocks. They did very well, I'm really happy with them.

how much do you think the lift has affected your gas mileage? i want to do something like this but i already get fairly bad mileage on the V8 and i would hate to make it any worse.

I'm not really sure. My gas mileage avg readout on the dash dropped from 20.8 to 20.5. Gas prices are falling anyway!

Tested it out on the rocks today. A lot more capable than stock. The extra ground clearance was an absolute necessity for these trails.

looks good. your rig a 4x4 or 2wd? pull those splash guards off the back and it'll look a lot cleaner
