DDM hid kit with factory fog wiring

so i hooked all the connections together with the hid kit but still have two wires left unconnected and two left on the hella micro that has the stock connectors. Logic would say that they obviously plug into each other but I really have no clue at this point.

I have an SR5 with all the factory wiring for the fogs, just no fogs. So i bought these hella micro de's with the brackets for the 4runner, plus ive already bought and installed the new head light stalk so i was hoping this would be just plug and play.

What step am I missing?

I attache dthe pic of everything in case my wording makes no sense.

You have to cut the wires coming out of the foglight boot connected to the Oem harness. If you pull back the sheeth, you should have a purple and white wire. You have to solder the purple wire to your red lead, and the white wire to your black lead.
 
Maybe I'm over thinking it but the first link and second link look like they wire them differently.

So in the pic I posted, the red and black wires that are left with nothing attached should have the ends cut off and attached to the factory plug, correct?

Then use the rubber cap from the hella light, correct?
 
You are overthinking it. The first link is a generic guide for the micro-de's. The second link is specific to the 4runner. You're correct though. The red and black wires need to be snipped off and connected to the factory harness. And yes, you use the rubber cap from the hella.
 
Ok doesn't sound too bad. I just don't want to screw it up before I even get then installed.

Any secret to taking the ends off as shown in the link? I tried and didn't get past taking the red lock thing out. Couldn't get them separated at all.
 
I know the bigger red lock is a little tough to get out. Just used something like a paper clip to go through the back of the plug around the weather seal. Try not to rip it, it just pushes out. If the paperclip is too flimsy, try to use the smallest drill bit you can find or maybe a small jewelry screwdriver. Just something that has a little bit of stiffness so it won't buckle in itself. Its easier than it seems. I spent way too much time trying to do the first one last night til i figured it out.
 
I've been stuck at work all day. Going to stop and buy some connectors tonight on my way home. Also have to buy some fuses for the fogs. Gotta try again at getting the conections off so I can run the wires through the hella rubber connector. Should be fun.
 
There has seriously got to be a easier way to separate these connectors on the ddm kit. The smaller one I did in 10 seconds. The bigger one, 20 minutes and nothing. I'm worried I'm going to f up this connector. How is this little thing that difficult to separate
 
If you go in through the hole in the back for the plug where the thicker black wires is going through, you can push from there. You just have to be careful not to rip the yellow rubber gasket
 
The little pink lock that holds it in place came out perfectly fine on both pieces. I got the plastic connector housing on the small one off in 10 seconds. I've been working the bigger one for over 30 minutes and nothing. Did they change something? That link makes it look easy. Well it isn't budging. Why can't I just cut off the ends and reconnect the wires? That's what you have to do with the other ones.

Unfortunately, it's frustrations like this that make me literally want to just trash this cheap hid kit and just run regular bulbs. This just isn't worth the effort to me. It's taking way longer than it should to run a few wires and I still have to do the whole other side.

So you got the little pink locks off and just want to get the black housing off right? If you push the wire into the plug it should loosen it up a bit and you should be be able to stick a paperclip in and loosen the tab and then it should pull right out.
 
I have tried everything I can think of to get this connector housing off. I've had that little \\"tab\\" thing as far back as I can move it and it won't budge.

It's getting to the point to where it's taking way too long for this project and I'm going to mess up the connector anyway. So.......I'm about to cut them both off and just reconnect the wires.

Even had someone else try it and they couldn't get it either
 
Well everything is put back together and wired up. Went to go out and test them. Pop the hood to install the fuse.......parts store sold the wrong fuse.

Hopefully they'll be done later tonight
 
Mine was wired for them from the factory. So I bought the head light stalk with the fog switch on it and installed that. Was told all I need is the fuse now.

Was yours the same?
 
Mine was wired for it too. All you should need is the relay. If you look at the fusebox under the hood, there should be an empty spot that says FOG on it.
