Dealer says can't install lift on my 2015 because of Auto Leveling

Yea, I recall that thread from way back when I initially tried figuring out my ZPC issue. I think he was forgetting the Crawl Control procedure IIRC. I remember going through the entire procedure exactly how it said. I even managed to be Xmas tree dash light free. However, the calibration is still off.

Not sure what the Techstream procedure entails, but my local dealer is obviously not familiar with how to do it correctly because it is still overactive.

I've taken it to a local SoCal dealer to have them perform ZPC twice. First time I think it worked and the second time didn't do anything. I've attempted to do it numerous times on my Limited but it still kicks in more so now than before. The first time it worked but I got an alignment and shortly after the VSC started to kick in prematurely again. I've learned to drive with it but it felt so good after it was corrected the first time. I've read and reread and searched all over for threads pertaining to this issue, even on other boards, but I still have this issue. Sounds simple enough but maybe I'm doing something wrong? The only thing I can think of is what the Tundra guys do; add extra washers on the rear of the VSC module then ZPC it. My mods are below. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Subscribing to this thread.

Not entirely true, in my case anyway. I have attempted to do the manual ZPC on my own and the dealer has attempted it twice. My VSC still kicks in while going moderate speeds around corners and on dry pavement. I can be coasting and the brakes still kick in independently. If I am towing my jet ski trailer, the push from the rear in corners causes it to brake more aggressively. It sucks but I have learned to expect it and deal with it.

Blue15 , I would not expect a dealer to know how to properly perform a Zero Point Calibration just as much as I would not trust them to know how to lift my rig.
Yep, it kicks in with no throttle or brake input... It is a really scary system and will brake hard on one wheel. I've driven many cars with stability electronics in extreme maneuvers (mainly for fun) and this thing is simply spooky when it kicks in. Never thought of taking a 4r to a track to figure it out. That would be a funny looking scene.

They will overcharge you. The quoted me $750! I know they are reputable but damn...

If you want, I can ask my buddy if he will give you the same deal he gave me from his shop. He charged $200 and that was installed with an alignment.

Saw your PM, will give them a call. Thanks.

Your randys is a good shop, and they quoted me $650.

Just ordered this same setup (should be here tomorrow!). Had a reputable shop quote me $365 with alignment...Still going to do it myself. Is there any particular DIY that is the "best"? I have tried a quick search on here and plan on going to google next but if anyone knows of a really good one please advise. thanks

Yeah, it kills me the folks that take their stuff to a shop and drop half the price of the lift kit just to get it installed. Myself and three of my wheeling buddies got it done (in the Arizona heat no less) in right around 4 hours. Two floor jacks, some air tools and more wrenches than you could shake a stick at... Oh and beer... lots of beer and a bloody mary bar afterwards. :bounce:

...and it will damage the computer and they cost $9000

This part of what the dealer told the wife is haunting me, through her. I keep hearing $9,000 for a new computer (if it even costs that much). Makes me second guess, and I hate that!

So I got to ask, any remote truth to the computer damage statement, as result of leveling front?

Hmmm, have not heard of that issue. You can also ask the hundreds, if not thousands, of 5th Gen owners on here who have lifted or leveled their rigs successfully. No such issue. Don't be skeered.

I just asked my friend who is a 30 year Toyota Mechanic and he laughed.

However, I will say that I am going to have him install my lift on my truck because if Toyota orders the parts and installs them, then my 7 year Toyota Extended warranty is not effected.

So that is why I am going to have them install it.

It calibrates the 0 point of the vehicle. This is used for stability control, Downhill assist, and anti-roll nannies. If you take a high G corner in your 4r you will feel it kick in. Usually the the inside front brake will pulse. It's a very odd and scary sensation. If you don't know it's coming, you may react and make things worse. I recommend that everyone try to get a feel for it.

Does anyone know if the steering wheel feeds positioning info into the zero point calculation instructing the nannies to kick on?

I sometimes experience pulsing when making quick sharp movements of the steering wheel while driving in very deep beach sand conditions at low speed. When I take my 4Runner on the beach, with traction control turned off in 4HI or even in 4Low where all nannies are supposedly disabled, I can sometimes make the ABS module kick on for a few pulses. I can imagine the 4Runner will be registering that it is not perfectly level to the main computer while driving on slightly sloped beach and I know I am never exceeding 5-10 mph when I attempt to turn into existing sand ruts or cross over into existing tracks. Reading these thread has me wondering if I am upsetting the system just enough for ABS to kick in to attempt to slow me down when there is really no danger.

I wonder how many do have ZPC issues and just deal with it, seems from posts many lifted are experiencing. Would be intresting to know if certain lift heights contribute. I just plan on 1.75, hard to think that little would cause issues.

Is the Toyota lean
calculated into factory ZPC?

What?! I'm shocked its them. :nono:

Magic, where purchased won' even do lifts. And foothills in burlington will only do A certain brand they use. Rodland even does lifts on new 4R for sale. Maybe they refuse because its not the lift kit they put on and didn't buy my 4R there.

Just rememberd, Foothills use the RevTec, Roland uses Readylift.

Ah, maybe that's it.
