Dealership Mishap

So this just keeps getting better and better....

Service manager called me up yesterday, said he was instructed by the GM to put in a check request for me for the $500. Would have been nice if they could have covered at least half the warranty cost, but whatever, i'll take it. He verified my address to mail the check to, and I figured that was it.

Well, I decided to log in to the Toyota owner's website last night, see what it was about, and they have the ability to look at your service history. And thats where I see a note from earlier in the day about a "goodwill offer", and specifically referencing "previous vehicle damage".

:ybrick:

Called the service manager first thing this morning. At first he had no idea why I was pissed. Then I reminded him how when I was there last week when they replaced the liftgate, he specifically put a note on the repair order that was labeled as "internal", so I would have a record of them fixing the damage, but it would not be visible to any other dealer or Toyota. Asked him why the same wasn't done with this, he claimed an oversight.

Told him this needs to be removed ASAP. After a few minutes on hold, he said he needed to make some calls to look into how to do it and would get back to me. The fact that he never called me back leads me to believe its probably like any other central record keeping system, and notes like this are unable to be removed.

I was actually pretty happy with how they repaired my vehicle, given my options. And now this crap. Any recommend course of action?

If they cant fix this, it seems they just lowered the value on my vehicle, as the note about "damage" is available to other dealers, and possibly CarFax.
