Dealership smashed my 4R!

Well, things just keep getting better.....

I just got a call from Stevenson Toyota, apparently the body shop they brought my 4R to, backed it into another car and F'd it up AGAIN!!!! This time they broke the rear tail light and screwed up the bumper....again.

:bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:

Would it be totally out of line to ask their GM to trade me straight across for a new '08 with the same options, etc. Or am I piss'n in the wind???

I can't F'n believe this. Stay tuned......

:wtf:

No it wouldn't be out of line. It's just unbelieveable.

So when are you gonna get your ride back?

They said possibly tomorrow (Thursday) but I leave for San Diego on business tomorrow afternoon and don't return until Friday night, so I'll probably pick it up Saturday morning.

Good thing is, I'll have a Toytec 1" leveling kit installed....and a $200 credit to use in their parts department when I get my 4R back. :)

Despite gas mileage, after driving a Prius for almost a week, I'm darn glad I own a 4R!

I will definitely post pics when I get it back.

Who needs reality TV when you have a thread going like this??? :p

Overall, it sounds like you made out pretty well... No one wants to see their vehicle damaged, especially at the hands of those who are supposed to repair it, but seems like they are making good on the repairs and adding something extra for your troubles. Honest dealers are hard to find.. I had a dealer up here crack the windshield doing some recall work on my wife's Yukon many years back and they asked to me claim this against my insurance since MA has no fault windshield replacement. I told them no, then asked for the GM. When he thought this was okay too, I asked if I could conference in the county DA for his blessing on this insurance fraud... They backed off and replaced it as they should have, but dishonest dealers are a dime a dozen....

Well said. The dealer definitely stepped up to the plate when they damaged my 4R themselves. The service manager had already agreed to do the 1" spacer lift for free before he heard about the body shop screwing it up. The fact that their body shop screwed it up is just dumb luck. In reality, this could have happened at any dealer. I think the 1" spacer lift installed and $200 credit to use at the dealership is pretty fair compensation considering what happened. This all, of course, depends on when I get the car back and how it looks.

Well, I picked up my 4R from the dealer yesterday. Below is the picture of the repair. I think they did a great job matching the paint and overall it looks pretty good.

They replaced my instrument lens (under warranty) and realigned my sunroof which was off by a couple of teeth apparently. Ironically, the main reason I brought my 4R to the dealer initially was to have the TSB performed on the auxiliary line input, and they could not complete that because they won't be getting the parts for another month or so.

Also, it came back to me with the 1" Toytec spacer lift installed. That was a nice distraction from the bumper. :) I also have a $200 dealer credit coming in the mail to be used anywhere at the dealer. I wonder if I can order a air intake from them even if TRD doesn't make one for the 4.7L 4R??? Either way, time to go parts shopping....

All things considered, I think Stevenson Toyota took care of the situation well. I was in constant contact with their service manager regarding the status of my 4R, and they didn't flinch when I asked for them to throw in the spacer lift. Their GM returned my call promptly and asked me what else they could do to help resolve the situation, so I also got the $200 credit at the dealership. It still sucks that this happened, but I'm glad it's over now and I got the spacer lift I wanted for free. :)

Glad everything worked out, but that is minor damage compared to what happened at a dealer I worked at. A mech. was lowering a customers new GTI down after service. Since mech's do this a dozen times a day, they take this rather routine operation for granted. While the car was coming down, one side of the lift forks remained locked and the others lowered, plunking the GTI on its side from 6 feet high.

The dealership owner called the customer and offered him a brand new GTI from the lot. We in the body shop were not able to straighten the body, it was twisted front to rear. I doubt the customer returned for service. :bigok:

Is that a Chipotle Mexican restaurant there on the 2d pic?

Yes sir, it is! I took that pic right around the corner from Stevenson Toyota at Colorado Mills Mall. Chipotle is my favorite "quality quick serve" restaurant! I eat there about 3-4 times per week. :D

You came away from a problem well taken care of.

I have a lot of respect for Stevinson as a dealership.

They stepped to the plate more than one would expect and hopefully others in the area will take notice of their first class treatment.

stinks that it happened, and your right, accidents happen, but they took care of it, without hassel.
Looks great, like nothing ever happened. :bigok:

Awesome! Good to see that the repair was well done and a great paint match to boot. Time to close that chapter and enjoy the freebies you got. All is well.

You go to Chipotle Grill 3-4 times a week?! Doesn't that wreak havoc on your colon after a while?
