Wow, what a great trip! You guys saw some amazing stuff! You missed out on racetrack road and the playa though. It's like walking on Mars on the playa! And racetrack road isn't nearly as bad as they say.

Racetrack road is a cake walk, its Lippincott road that is the pain.

if you would have just sped up on Lippincott it would have been the same as racetrack haha

The Racetrack is well worth the trip out there. We did bypass some cool stuff that we can hit up next time. Some of my favorite spots:

1. Scotty's Castle

2. Amargosa Opera House

3. Racetrack Playa

4. Ubehebe Crater

5. Cerro Gordo Ghost Town

It isn't bad, but it is no joke. A lot of the road is double arm interval with tons of washed out switchbacks.

The pictures don't do it justice, but you get the idea.

I put together three DV trips last year. I will see what work does this year, but yeah usually just in the cooler months.
