Just wanted to hear your opinion on this deckplate mod twist im thinking of doing.
The typical deckplate mod uses a plate that you must manually screw into a flange mounted on the airbox. I decided that i wanted to make this cabin operational.
In short, sliding door guides with an aluminum door mounted to my airbox. Underneath the door reveals a 4x4 square hole to suck air into the intake. The door seals completely from water using rubber weather seal.
The door is opened up using a actuator that i reversed to use vacuum. There is a supply line going up into my cab underneath the steering column which supplyies a toggle vacuum switch to open vacuum to the actuator or not.
Once vacuum is applied the actuator pulls the door open and allows airflow, once the switch is closed a spring mounted on the opposite side of the box pulls it back to sealed position.
Sound cool or like to much work? I figured 1/4 poly lines with some push to connect fittings would work great.
