Defiant Light Bar

Well

We took my brothers 2010 TE in a couple of weeks ago to take measurements, and we are waiting for Paul to get the first run brackets back from his source, should be in the next week or so.

We'll take it back to double check the brackets and finish mock up, then they should be into production if all goes well.

:hatsoff:

See.... Below from my brother...

I took my truck in for measurements a few weeks back...

" I have not forgot about you. Some delays in getting the drawing to the laser shop. I had my adjoining unit up for lease and a friend of mine is moving into it...His previous landlord gave him a one month extension...then completely backed out on the deal..We had to scramble, here at my shop, to install the common wall, remove all of my tools and inventory over to my single unit, then prep, paint and redo the flooring..
Will have about one more week minimum to get my tools and equpiment wired for power and back on your drawing..

I apologize for the delay..."

So I am hoping to here from him any day now to take it back for final measurements.

Will def keep you all posted and upload pics as soon as it is done.

Wow, I agree it looks nice but $475 ?

:iagree: I like the look.. but wow... pricey...

And no email on the site; just a phone number. I'll be curious how it mounts and whether the spider hoop can support some weight. Not to mention if it fits on a LMT.

I'd like to email the questions.. but I may have to call over lunch one of these days...

that other bar looks decent, but besides the price, it looks like you have to trim/cut your lower grill.

In talking to Paul while he was laying out the brackets, no modification should be necessary to the lower grill. He also stated a over rider/pre-runner tube could be an option...

I called Winter Motorsports yesterday and got a voicemail. I left a message and have not heard back yet.

I think I'll wait for a picture of the Defiant light bar.

Its not for the 4Runner, but it gives a good idea of what a pre-runner bar might looks like from Defiant:

It doesn't look bad, but I would wonder on the strength. Compared to the Winter Motorsport bar it just looks thin and dainty (mainly the mounting rackets)....

I found an email address on winter's website ([email protected]) and I'll email them tomorrow about more details on the bar. I mainly want to know how it's mounted. Off course it's still $130 more than the Defiant pre-runner bar (Tacoma price). I'm just curious (both for Defiant and Winter) what happens when one of the kids decides to climb up on the bar and stand/sit or otherwise use it as a jungle gym.

Looks great, you would think that after a year these guys would have something tangible to show us. I'm sure they could sell at least a few dozen which should cover the costs involved.

Any updates on how the Defiant light bar prototype is coming along?

I'm wondering what the distance will be between the support brackets and how that compares with the mounts for either the BudBuilt (avalalble now)or Lucrum (available soon??) winch mounts. It sure would be nice if either winch mount could also be used to support a light bar.

I like the Defiant light bar. Looks more streamlined . Not a big fan of the hoop . I'll be waiting patiently .......

Just took my truck in again yesterday for some follow up measurements.

A few things to note:

1) Defiant is a one person business so it does take some time, but is definitely worth it.

2) This will not require cutting of the factory lower grill.

3) A pre-runner style hoop will be available as well as other options customers will want.

4) It will look a lot better than the winter motorsports one IMO.

With all that being said, its prob a few weeks out until the first prototype is completed.

the brackets Paul is designing mount directly to the bumper mounts off the frame, and the way the frame is formed, his design is actually pretty complex and SOLID!!I'm 300+, and on my 3rd gen bar, I could jump on that thing and cycle the suspension and the bar didn't move. Also, Paul doesn't have a laser cutter in his shop, so he has to bunch his orders to make it cost effective to send to his supplier. That is what takes up a lot of the time in development. And no one else showed up at his shop for measurements until we took my brothers truck in. After watching/talking to Paul this past Saturday while he was making some minor changes, I'm pretty confident the next set will be on the money. And he's putting some nice touches on the brackets that come thru the lower grill to make sure there is no modification or potential vibration.Paul will make these with 2, 3, 4 light mounts plus a cb/flag mount if you want as well.I made sure and told him that there are lots of guys chomping at the bit....

It is finally done!!

Well, it was definitely worth the wait. The design and craftsmanship are second to none. This thing is rock solid and looks perfect!!

It looks nice on your rig and I like the 4 light setup.. but it looks to sit pretty high to me. Has Paul done one with a hoop yet? I would think that with a hoop he would have to drop the bar lower on the brackets.

Personally I like the short tube better.
