Definant...Wintermotorsports...mount em' to the bumper?

I'm impatient and would like to get a set of Black Magic (Rallye 1000s) wired up and mounted on my TE. Defiant should be up and running around mid-march, but I do like the look of the wintermotorsports light bar, but $475 is a bit steep.

Anyone have pics of lights mounted directly to a trail edition front bumper?

Not mounted to the bumper, but here is what my rig looked like when I had black magics mounted on the defiant before I sold the setup. I can also attest to the quality craftsmanship that Paul and defiant put out.

Mounting them to the actual bumper or the plastic bumper cover? The actual bumper is a Aluminum extrusion underneath the plastic cover and is structural . The plastic bumper cover is for looks and aerodynamics and is not a good idea to mount lights to.It's plastic and they will not make for a solid long term mounting surface and the lights will bounce and most likely elongate the holes and crack the cover over time.

Mounting heavy driving lights to plastic is not a good idea.Maybe small lightweight ones would hold up
Defiant light bars go one step beyond and mount to the frame rails.

There's pics of mine on my build thread. I mounted them directly to the bumper cover and it is more than strong enough, even in the midst of a cold Canadian winter. They've been on there for quite a long time and many miles now. Speed proven up to 170km/h

Looks great. Anyone know the story with Paul and defiant? I know the site went MIA for a bit and now Wilco Automotive is producing the light bars...or will be shortly. I hope the quality remains to the standard Paul had set.

That or I just spill the beans for the winter motorsports one. Guess I'll hold off on drilling into the bumper cover for now.

Here you go. I just put some big fender washers on the back side. It has proved to be pretty sturdy. When off road on washboard or the like you can see a little shake in the light that is projected out, but not bad. The biggest plus... the mounting was free!!!! I went this route as I was thinking I would do the shrockworks front bumper at some time down the road and didn't want to spend money on a light bar at this point.

I spoke to Paul back early December as I was getting ready to sell my lightbar, and he never really went into full details. It did sort of sound like financial issues, but I'm not for certain. He did mention that he is partnering with Wilco and not just them taking over. He is overseeing it, and will still be built to Defiant quality as he told me.

Wilco has a pretty good product line with their tire gate. It's good quality as well.

I personally don't like the look of the winter motorsports mount. It's also alot of money for what Paul can make. Also, I don't think I've seen many, if any people using the Winter Motorsports bar. If you like the prerunner light hoops, talk to paul and he may be able to do that for ya. He's very good to work with.

Thanks. I did hear back from someone from Wilco, and they said about a month from now. I emailed wintermoto also, and actually didn't hear back. I can hang for a month...paying $475 to mount a $200 set of Hellas is a bit counter intuitive. I just hope these bars are available again soon.

That's good to know. I've been waiting as well. Lurking around in the sale/want thread just in case someone wants to give theirs up.
