Diff breather mod

Trans and diff are already re-routed. You should be able to find them on the drivers side of your engine, a couple of vent caps that look just like the one on your rear diff sticking straight up.

Does the transfer case have a breather?
I'm guessing it's also re routed already since no one talks about rerouting it.
Like stared a above. Both front diff and trans case are routed to the driver side of the engine bay. The rear diff is the only one that need to be routed. My understanding is that when missing it can make it stay open and flood the diff. It's one of those better safe than sorry things but I don't think it's 100% a must.. depends on your wheeling style.

What about the transmission, then? Doesn't it have a breather?

Yes it does. Even if you have a rear diff lock (09 trail edition) it has a separate breather as well for the actuator.

The ones you see on the driver side engine bay are the front diff. section only.
The trans and transfer case are above there components. If you get water to the floor board, you should raise them also. I did them yrs ago, not easy to get to them, but piece of mind.

Yep! I can get you a picture later, preferably when this rain stops on Sunday.
I was strictly focused on the dif breather... this knowledge changes things. Funny how so many threads only focus on the dif, wonder why that is? can anyone shed some light?

Front diff, trans, and transfer case breathers are already pretty high in the engine compartment. The rear diff however is going to suck water at the first deep puddle or stream crossing. Unless you treat your rig like a U-boat the rear diff is probably the one to worry about.
I just ordered the union so I'll be doing that mod once the part arrives. I'm planning a trip to an area near the Everglades soon so it's going to be a lot of water crossings. Better safe than sorry.

I have 2 lines on top of the trans in this picture.
Just feel above the trans where it meets the bell housing.
Transfer case, just feel on top of it. It is like a 1/4" hose with a tee going to, 2 different spots up there.
Sunday I can get under there and get pictures then to help you.
