Different style of sliders installed

A guy on my Dept. was a fabricator before he became a Cop, I threw some ideas his way and we came up with these sliders. I am really impressed with the quality of his work and how beefy they are, and also haven't seen a style like this before.

For $134 I purchased a 20' length of 3 x 3 x .1875 A500 Gr. B sq. tube and 20' of 2 x 2 x .120 A500 Gr B sq. tube. We had a little less then half remaining of each stick... we started cutting at 0900 and I drove home at 1750, so it was a all day thing but well worth it. I picked up about $20 worth of Rustoleum flat black, and paid him $150 for his time (I tried throwing more money at him but he wouldn't take it) so out the door $304... I will be painting Non-Skid along the top section near the steps to prevent slippage, it was his idea to add the steps and I think they look bad ass.

Very nicely done! Those notched steps are a good detail to a very interesting design. It fits the more angular look of the 5th gens, so it does't feel too out of place either.

Man those are sweet! To reiterate what others have said, the step is a great idea, even without it that upright 90 is positive foot traction too. Dude throws a fine bead, some real nice fab work

Yes welded straight to the frame. That's what I did to my 08' Tacoma and it never caused any issues.

The angle on those could leave an aggressive "reminder" to anyone who is careless with their door. Door crease instead of door ding!!!

Nice! I'm pretty sure if an F-35 had rock sliders they would look like that. Really nice job on those. Let me know when the group buy starts

Those look really good mainly cause it goes with the 5 the gen body style have ya tryed them offroading any and the step is awesome I might have to do that when I build mine I got that idea when I started seeing some of the new trucks around here with the fake sliders with a kick out step but you made one that I had in mind lol.....soooo cool :roadkill:

These look real good and the price is great. :yo:
Just adding the weight per foot of this tube steel, 2x2x1/8 and 3x3x3/16, if you used 12 feet of each size (a bit more than half) it adds up to 119#, plus the 2.5" round struts at maybe around 6# each, I get a weight of 143# total for two, or under 72# each. That's right around average for the various sliders out there. If you wanted to get more accurate you could weigh what's left, calculate the weight per foot of each and multiply by what you actually used (20 feet minus what's left).
It will be some tricky welding, all around the tube to the slider, to add a 3rd strut now that they're welded to the frame. But it seems like a good idea.
I don't quite understand the turned edge detail at the front end in the 2nd photo but it's a nice finish.

Have a feeling that is notched out for the front fender mount to extend the slider as far forward.

Im really liking the look that. Of course I just bought a pair. Maybe if he starts making those and and they're the right price, I'll switch them out.
